Blizzard and FREE WOW

Anyone else get a e-mail last night (I found it in my SPAM on Gmail) from Blizzard;

This is the full version of World of Warcraft that we sell in store and includes a 30-day subscription. Just follow the instructions below to activate it, download the game, and start playing. Again, it's totally free.

Below this was a step by step guide on 'claiming' my free WOW client.
 
Yip I saw that this morning when I got to work. It seems that Blizzard is not happy with the amount of my soul that it already has.
 
What is all the commotion about ? I have never ever had to pay for the WoW client.

What is really awesome is an account with gametime until 2033. Was actually for sale long ago for R2000.

It is legit, but you will have to pay for the rest of the subscription if you get hooked.
 
I'll have a look, but I think its going to be like cheap plonk next to fine wine compared to Lotro.

Apples/Oranges. Once you get use to running around Azeroth and actually seeing other people questing as well you may change your mind.

Lotro is an mmo also. I am part of a kin (guild) and we often quest and skirmish together. I have a few friends that I quest with alot.
Is that not the same? Am I missing something?
People tell me lotro is more polished than wow. I have never played wow (tho I have seen some vids) so I am going to check it out myself.

LotRO doesn't even nearly have the "crack-factor" that WoW has.
I wish I could explain it to you better, and with more perspective, but it's really quite elusive.
The addiction factor to WoW is a very VERY real thing.
 
Unfortunately its not a scam... I once took a free "hit" about 4 years ago....

All I can say is don't go for it... I makes your free time disappear like its no ones business :)
 
Strike one for wow. Logged in, activated the 30 day thingy, clicked on download now and chose the windows client.

6 gigs in I try and log in and its giving me errors. So I do some checking. It turns out that even tho I have an eu account, EVERYTHING on my account says and is eu, by default it downloads the us client :wtf:
How thick is that? I specifically need to go and choose the eu client to download.

Busy re-downloading the eu client now :mad:
 
Don't do it man, wasn't the 1st 6 gig waste already a warning that you should not play the game.

PS: Its people that comes with the game that makes for the worst addiction, make sure you join a server where you have friends on.
 
i took up the subscription,been playing 4 out of my 30 days already reached lvl 26 with my survival hunter.also joined a guild and made some friends,played a few dungeons,got a horse,did i mention that you get awesome xp and gold in dungeons.

i might actually fork out around R120 a month for this game.
