Another quick update...

Seem like the installation to our complex is delayed for about 2 weeks if not longer...

From what I understand is that there were last minute changes to the planning of the installation and this impacts a few things so now the entire planning process has to start over and looks like 3 complexes will be affected by this...
 
Exciting update today!

It seem that SADV decided to stick with the initial planning, they started with the trenching inside the complex this morning :D

I'm also in LHP... Im part of the trustees so we can launch. However there are older generation people in my complex and from what they tell me their geration friends are kicking against it but for the sole reason that they do not understand what the whole process entails. As Generation X/Millennials it is for us to 'dumb it down' (no offence). I have tried comparing it to the fact that all houses / townhouses have a telephone jack in them. But it is your choice to use it or not. It also adds value to your home should you wish to sell later. I found that using that analogy helped.

We also had our KOM 1Jun. Just frustrating that Sanrail is being difficult.
 
I guess that's a good analogy to use. Luckily we managed to have the SADV contract signed this week, now we wait! Good luck with your complex!
 
Quick update from our complex.

The are almost done with the main line inside the complex, but was kept up by accidently hitting a fire department waterpipe yesterday and got the pipe fixed quite late last night.

The also started doing the fibre drops inside some of the units already.
Hopefully they can do some good progress today!

Nice progress!

Tell me, the white box attached to the wall in the second pic, I am assuming they drilled through the wall to get to the other side to get the fibre inside. How large is the hole?
 
Ah, you guys are so lucky! I've got 2 fibers running in front of my yard, DFA and Vodacom, and at this time it doesn't look like either of them is interested in connecting me up.
My money is on Frogfoot now.

That box on the wall looks like the boxes being attached to people's boundary walls in Universitas. Wonder if it's Fibre there too?

Not sure, they are going to install mine tomorrow morning so will take some more pics and let you know.

Yes, I think DFA and maybe Vodacom as well are only doing the complexes and Frogfoot are doing the rest of the complexes that didn't sign up with SADV and the houses.
I think once the link to LHP is live then you can maybe check again with DFA or Vodacom?
Not sure how long that will be, will try to find out as DFA is awaiting the green light and approval to drill underneath the N1.

Hi, sorry I'm only responding now, I did not have access to see how big the holes are, they did mine yesterday so now I am able toe say :) It's about 1.5cm max, it's just for the Fiber cable to fit through, they don't drill a hole as big as the white pvc pipe. Will post a few pics I took yesterday

Looks like they are almost done, think they will be finishing the last paving and drops inside the units today or Monday and the splicing will also start today.

Thanks man, will really appreciate it. Once they start with our complex in about 2 months time, I just want to have some proof to convince my landlord to have fibre installed at the unit where I live as I will most likely need to provide him with some photos before any work can be done.

Great! You're welcome! Yes, I have to say they are doing a great job to restore everything as close as possible to how it was before they start.
Depending on how the plans are setup, they might need to install those white PVC pipes like in the pictures I uploaded, but those pipes are just to protect the Fiber cable, it can be painted over with the same color of the walls...Think that is what our body corporate will most likely do, as it stand out quite a bit, those grey wallboxes are fine, they will most likely stay that color and not be painted over...

Thanks for the confirmation. I've been sending you emails to ask if SADV is also in the process of deploying in Universitas-Ridge? I did see the SADV signage so it's pretty much a given then. I'm moving to the Ridge in the next 3 weeks, how long till it's live plus minus? :)

Isn't there OpenServe fibre already in U-ridge?
