Blood Pressure...

Ok then...

(went for a run from 7 till 7:30, took BP at 9:15)

so i have now picked up a lung infection.
started off like a mild cold - occasional sniffing, sneezing and coughing.
after a day or two the coughing became regular along with breathing difficulty.
during all this, blood pressure and heart rate started climbing.

on antibiotics for the infection, but the breathing difficulties remain - severe at night when lying down in bed.
doc is now suggesting hospital admission - i, as always, am reluctant !

needless to say, having a rubbish heart & lungs that are suddenly playing up, is not exactly a good combination.
going to see how things go overnight, then decide on hospital in the morning.

it's all very frikking tiresome !!

Sorry mate. Second time in A&E this week. Same **** for me every time: can’t ever figure out what’s wrong with me, so get discharged after 8hrs because troponin is low, etc.

Did manage to get through my perfusion scan yesterday (treadmill) - was referred after my A&E visit on 25 July (again, no idea what was wrong with me).

Anyway, today was the usual suddenly feeling like ****, pressure in my chest cavity, high heart rate - but now also breathing difficulties. Not a feeling like I’m suffocating, or that I’m hyperventilating. Just like I’m not getting a sufficient amount of oxygen into my lungs or something.

had 2 or 3 lung infections since march...all started as throat things that travelled down...so I've changed my action when i feel a change in my throat...so it used to be bomb with andolex c spray and medi-keel...but i got convinced that this action this yar is actually transporting the germs into the lung area and gets the infection started...so now I'm just leaving it to work itself out if i feel a throat thing...

coincidentally i started a multivitamin when i was getting sick and then getting re-infection in the weeks after...after the 1st month i ran out of pills and neglected to get more...the next week i had the throat/lung infection again...

i read something yesterday that spoke about the lung infections causing fluid on the lungs...so when you lay down it feels like you suffocating...sounds rather unpleasant...

Blood pressure is 117/71. Obviously only because they’ve pumped me full of anti platelets, clot busters and aspirin.

They’re not normally this thorough, but I was here on Tuesday, too, so that threw up the red flags. Kept me overnight and now moved me to the acute assessment unit until the cardiologist does his rounds.

Definitely not how I intended on spending my first day of leave.

Good luck, hope they figure it out soon!

Cheers. **** thing is I was in A&E on Tuesday, went for my perfusion scan on Wednesday (did the treadmill and bossed it without any issues), and then back in A&E yesterday. So no bloody clue tbh.

So it's a "weekend special" - going home tomorrow.
Just getting high flow oxygen & an antibiotic, via IV.
Blood results showed infection markers very high, and protein levels very low.
All easily managed tho - antibiotic is working, got to drink 2 protein "milkshakes" (fresubin & fortisip) 3 times a day - not bad stuff if you tart them up a bit.

I have always had a bit of a policy in always looking after the nursing staff.
There are 8 of us in CCU, 2 unconscious and one in an isolation room, 5 nurses on day shift & 5 at night.
So I'm laying here thinking "what to get them" - i figure "after eight mint thins".
That means 10 boxes for them, but then i'm thinking the other patients get to watch the nurses and I guzzle chocolate with the flies - which is a bit rude. Best I get for everyone.
Call a friend who was coming thru - "please get 20 boxes of mint thins on your way".
But then i suddenly feel like cheesecake, or lemon meringue - again - rude to scoff with the flies in the corner, so i call her again - "please pick up 4 baked cheesecakes & 4 lemon meringue pies as well".

Poor woman comes waddling in with a spar shopping basket she appropriated along the way - loaded with 2Kg of mint thins & 8 tarts !!
I'll be taking pizza orders this evening, but Uber eats or MrD can do the heavy lifting.

Haha, classic!

The wife came to see me in Majors after work on Thursday, also with a bag of goodies. Gave the nursing team on duty two big tins of the Cadbury’s assorted stuff (was the second time this week I’d been in and they had to look after me). They were all super happy with it. Don’t think they get appreciated nearly enough.

The nut case screaming to herself in some made up language and sometimes English in the “interview room” (usually where they keep the prisoners and unsavoury types with security outside the door) was doing my head in. My wife briefly mentioned it to one of the nurses. About an hour later, I suddenly get moved to the other side of the ward into a closed off room with my own bathroom. It pays to be nice!

Update: I was kept overnight after going back to the A&E on Thursday. Was moved to AAU in the morning, and discharged late afternoon. They had me on the treadmill again. Was really difficult because I was exhausted because the nutjob didn’t stop screaming until about 3AM (I could still hear her on the other side of the ward in my closed room). Eventually had to tell them I couldn’t carry on, but no major cardiac events so I’m happy. Still have to do the second part of the perfusion scan that I had on Wednesday.

They prescribed me a nitrate tablet (which I won’t take because I already have issues with fatigue and weakness). They also gave me the clot buster combos in A&E, despite all my markers being negative for an MI. “Just in case” because of my history, they said.

Now my erosive gastritis has flared up again, so quite uncomfortable. Going to be fun because the pain often refers to my chest!

121/76/90

at least I can sleep a bit relaxed now... still goes up to 150/90 in the wee-wee hours of the morning though (never higher than that), but we're making some progress. At least it is not 200/100 something....

Want to visit the doc sometime next month for a follow-up.

Good luck with that. I found that eating something alkali (or gobbling down some activated charcoal tablets) helps with that.

Busy adjusting my diet as well - I was not eating enough fresh veggies and fruit... getting bit by bit there...

...and while we're on the subject of food prices, fvck the ANC for the high food prices...

well that did not last long -
what ever it was, is back with a vengeance, started up again yesterday evening - battling to breathe.
worse today, just sitting relaxing and i cant seem to get enough air - if i try breathe in deeply i start coughing and am completely out of air.
forehead sweating like the village prostitute in the confession box on a sunday morning !!

call the dr - he tells me he is sending an ambulance.
i tell him i can drive.
he tells me "you are driving nowhere"
i tell him i'll have a friend drive me
he tells me he is ok with that, provided my friend is a paramedic & has oxygen equipment.
so ambulance it is.

i hate this schite - i constantly tell the ambulance ppl there is no need for sirens and the whole circus, and yet both the paramedics in their fancy bmw and the ambulance always arrive outside the driveways gates with all bells and whistles going full tilt - like there has been some kind of frikking massacre inside !!

**** man, hope you get it sorted. Think that’s the worst: ongoing issues. It’s without a doubt really knocked my confidence for six. I wasn’t super outgoing or anything, but I’ve become terrified to do anything most days. I need to get out of my head.

Was in A&E twice last week for my heart. No MI markers, but given clot busters and kept overnight on Thursday. Made to do the treadmill on Friday. Still nothing. Discharged. Again.

But, having dinner on Sunday, and suddenly I feel good stuck in my throat. I can breathe, but the food just won’t go down. Try everything: fizzy drink, warm water, etc. Just won’t budge. About an hour later, I decide to go to the A&E again. Backstory: I was diagnosed with erosive gastric problems after they did an endoscopy because I had dysphagia. Think the camera opened up the narrowing because I was fine afterward, and had to take tablets to treat the inflammation and erosion in my gut. Food would always eventually go down though. Fast forward to Sunday, and I’m in A&E for it. Symptoms have basically been a feeling of something being stuck once a week, then once a day, then every time I swallow.

Anyway, after 4hrs in the waiting area, I felt it go down. I still hadn’t been seen by anyone, so go and speak to the nurse at 02:00 and say I’m fine, I’d like to go home. He and another nurse standing in the investigation area say that I can self discharge but because I had something stuck in my throat, that it would be best if I see the doctor. I ask where I am in the queue: 10th. I go sit down. I’d already sent the wife home at midnight (she insists on coming with every time). More people kept coming in. At around 04:00 I’m starting to get really ****ing tired because I’d been up since 08:00 the previous morning. I go ask where I am in the queue. 7th. So, around 3 places in 2hrs. About 40mins to move one place. Bearing in mind, waiting time is 7hrs. Fair enough, I’ll stick around for another hour, then go home. Things move a bit quicker and at 07:00 when I ask (now I’m so tired I’m suspecting organ failure) I’m next! Except I wait for an hour before speaking to a new nurse (they did shift change at 07:00), and I’m still next but there’s no sign of any doctors (the new shift comes in at 08:00). For some reason he does vitals and asks if I’m hypertensive because my BP is 155/100. I say no, I’ve been awake for 24hrs. I feel like total **** so self discharge.

Get home and feel so tired I’m past exhausted and can’t sleep. Heart rate won’t go down. Eventually crash at around 10:00.

On the topic of ambulances, I get taken in every now and then if I can’t get there myself. I always tell them I feel really bad because there are people who need it more than I do. They just reassure me that because of my history I shouldn’t think about it like that.

back home again !
feeling somewhat farked up (normal side affects tho).
bp higher than normal but apparently will return to normal over the course of a week or so.

spent 48hrs in ccu - feeding and entertaining my fellow captives, then transferred to a private room (turned into an isolation room).

but so good to be back home, music cranked up, doing what i please, as i please, and whenever i please
