Blood Pressure...

You need to take your meds or see a GP as that is high.
Take the average of 3 readings for a more accurate reading.
Cut out all salts and hidden salts in cookies and bread. Drink water and decaf tea or coffee. No sodas.
You will see a difference in a single day.
A bit late but thank you for mentioning this. I wish any of my GP's would mention any of this specifically to me.

p.s. For some who will say that this should be common knowledge. I know. I know. I can google and should know these things but I am really surprised that GP's would really not mention any of this.

p.p.s. Have started eating a banana every day, hardly ever ate any fruits till now. Exercise is a distant dream but imminent ;)  If I reduce by 20kg, I am sure I don't have to be on tablets.

You need a different doc. Mine very specifically mentioned all of those points and more even.
I also do those discovery wellness days once a year...and that report they give you also states most of those things. That said, they try only take 1 reading on those days.

I had a successful heart ablation for arrhythmia this week.
Now my pulse dropped to 43 and my BP to 95/60.

Took a really hot bath yesterday evening. BP dropped after getting out of the bath.

This morning I took my BP pill as usual. Went through the day feeling fine, but around 10:00 I was feeling woozy.

Took my BP and was surprised to find it at 90/70

Will have to monitor for a while, if it keeps up, then I'll have to ask the doctor to prescribe weaker BP pills.

Interestingly, Europe seems to have different guidelines than US/others. Maybe it is common knowledge here but I came across this only now.

The Europeans maintained traditional blood pressure categories, with grade 1 hypertension starting at an office pressure of 140/90 mm Hg, whereas the Americans lowered the threshold for stage 1 hypertension to 130/80 mm Hg.

I'm sort of healthy: smoker, drinker, lazy jogger but fairly active all around, BMI 20.9, haven't picked up any health issues so far. So this is should probably be in a 'Things I noticed while drunk' thread, but here goes...
Sitting in front of the pc, I dangled my hand to the floor to give the doggo laying next to me some ear rubs.
Looking down, I was quite surprised at what my hand looked like:

Lifting my hand to a point above my heart immediately changes it:

I've only ever noticed it being like this while there is some sort of physical exertion involved, not just from gravity.
So I spent about 5 minutes raising and lowering my arm watching the blood go back and forth. I entertain myself quite easily.

The veins in my hand also look like that when I drink

On a more serious note, high blood pressure can happen without any signs at all whatsoever. The only real test is to take out a BP machine and measure your BP or if you know how to do it by listening. I am not doctor so I semi rely on a machine and then if the machine tells me its bad I show it to the doctor.

Anybody here on Ciplavasc?
I'm into my 2nd month on this now and I've noticed a change in my mood - far less inclined to be grumpy or down now.

You might be dehydrated. Drink more water.

Unpopular opinion.

How many of you are active (even 30 minutes of light exercise) and healthy diet (during the week at least)?

I suffered from low BP for a while and my cholesterol etc was too high.

Regular exercise, more water, adding more fruit and veg to my diet and my health returned to normal. Not to mention dropping 15kg

I'm trying to get my lazy butt to do 30 minutes of walking in the morning every day.

Note, walking, not wanking. Big difference.

In all likelihood, I wouldn't need to visit this thread if I was active.

I've walked 245km this year so far... (that I've actively tracked - NOT calculated from step counts). Step counter shows about 1.1m steps @ 830km.
