-it is a beta-blocker - generally used way down the line, when first tier and second tier bp meds do not make any dent in your elevated bp. Clinically, there is a medication protocol that is followed when it comes to high bp.

First up : Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors block an enzyme needed to form a substance that narrows blood vessels. As a result, blood vessels relax and widen, making it easier for blood to flow through the vessels, which reduces blood pressure.

Second up : Calcium channel blockers prevent calcium from entering cells of the heart and blood vessel walls, resulting in lower blood pressure. Calcium channel blockers, also called calcium antagonists, relax and widen blood vessels by affecting the muscle cells in the arterial walls.

Third up : Diurectics are often the first medication, in my case it was the third one that was added to my medication regimen, to try for high blood pressure (hypertension). They help your body get rid of extra water and salt.

I would get a second opinion...bilocor so early in the game, does not seem right...but then again I am not a dr, just someone who suffers from unmanageable high blood pressure....and have been through the whole investigation and medication route. My personal experience with it : was on it for 10 days, and said no bloody thank you. Shortness of breath, vivid dreams, and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia ...an enlarged prostate....oh that was ****ing fun!

I have been on cipalat and pharmapress Co it worked well for me but the doctor disagree. Just that the heart rate was always bit high. These one definitely did nothing for me ridag and sinopren (lisinopril). So I will see how bilocor treat me.

I'm just curious as to why the doctor said I must take it at night. Could it be that dangerous????

Thank you friends for all the advice all went well my bp is controllable now. I'm going back to work the doctor gave me the green light :-).

This should not be a green light for unhealthy eating though because I can assure you one day, it will be too late to fix.

Yoh guys I did it all week I didn't touch salt or spices, I went to check my BP Thursday it went down nicely. So I hope Monday all will go well for my medical check up. Cravings are killing me eating food without salt or spices phwee not nice.

The problem I'm facing now I'm constantly hungry I don't know why.

Do not cut too much. Read the links below. I did the same and my BP dropped significantly but even then I had high BP spikes afterwards mostly due to pain and lack of sleep. Now back on moderate salt, drinking less coffee (rather rooibos tea) and rest (sleep) more.
 
My curve recently using app on phone. Not accurate but trend is a close proximation of my BP the last few weeks.

Icare health monitor. Used it as a fad untill I realised how accurate the trend followed my BP in real life after an unfortunate accident that led me to be hospitalised.

How does this work?
 
I started to drink the new medication (bilocor) Friday night so far I have not experienced any side effects. But I have noticed my heart beat so slow.
