Anyone know where I can re-tune BMW Chip and Cape Town Area and what the price range may be. I'M not a Petrolhead so this is al foreign to me thanks:o

Thanks

A BMW turbo or N/A?

I've always believed the ration of cost to performance on an NA car isn't really worth it

I'd beg to differ :) Just cos you not running -10secs 1/4mile does not mean your N/A car is not still fun to drive with its hot cam, branches, free flow etc etc etc

EDIT: Used to have a little '98 1.6iS Corsa that was pretty modified, but still N/A, and i can tell you now, that car was alot more fun to drive around in than my mates A3 1.8T '01

I mean ratio .... You take a 150kw NA car and spend R10,000.00 on a chip, exhaust, downpipe and you may take that up 10% if you're very lucky. The same R10,000.00 is probably 20%+ on a turbo car with ease.

I personally would not go to Steve's.
Only heard bad things from them sharks.

If you in the Northern Suburbs, you could try Gooch & Cooper in Brackenfell or Kosie Swanepoel in Stikland Industries.

A re-tune should be around R240 to R280.

I've personally not heard bad things about Steves Auto Clinic, and from the work i have experienced 1st hand, they do a damn good job! There's one particular branch though that my dad always used as he said they knew what they were talking about. Cant remember which one, but it would have been Northern Suburbs. This was about 10yrs ago though...

As for Koesie Swanepoel, i'd trust him with my car... He used to be a great racing driver!

Says the guys who recommended the worst tuning house in SA.
Anyone who knows even a little about cars, knows SAC is a POS establishment.

Oh how could i forget that your opinion was the final say all and be all of what a good place is...

I've grown up racing karts, bikes and cars. I know more than enough thanks! I've built my own racing machines and have never in my life had issues with SAC's, only satisfactory results!

EDIT: Read my comment above yours

SACs is verrry expensive!

Chip tuning- Dynotec ( the best IMO), Goch n Cooper, Kosie Swanepoel developments.
You probably want a unichipQ

Dynotec also very good! Haven't been to Kosie Swanepoel dev myself, but would definitely trust him with my car! I remember the days back in the mid-late 90's when he used to race in the Formula Supercars with the Opel Superboss motors in them. That was some exciting racing to watch!

I second Swanepoel. My brother-in-law always took his 325iM there for services and tune ups.

Awesome car!

Remember the days when it was Opel vs BMW? Opel had the 2.0L Boss and BMW had the 325i. Then Opel brought out the "SuperBoss" which wiped the floor with the 325i, hence the 325iM was born and then the racing really got interesting:love:

how much would chip tuning cost :) want to take my alfa

BMW e36 1992 316i.. Bought 2 years ago to fix her up as a hobby. Only started a weeks ago was standing in garage the whole time :o . Other forum guys suggested not to touch Chip at this stage ...

You are not going to gain much by chip tuning a standard 1600.

I'm not too sure with a bmw, but if I wanted better performance from a 1600 I would rather look into getting a performance branch, freeflow exhaust and a performance air filter. Get reputable brands. This will give your car better performance and it will be fuel economic if driven normally.

Then have your car dyno tuned. Just by doing these 3 upgrades you could gain 10% more power.
