Bok emblem under threat... again

Pretoria - Newly appointed national rugby coach Peter de Villiers may be one of the last people to wear the Springbok emblem.

The African National Congress decided at its recent national congress that South African sports teams should wear a uniform emblem to enhance nation building and social bonding.

It remains a sensitive matter within the ruling party but the feeling is that the protea has been accepted as the emblem for all national sports teams for a long time and that rugby should fall in with the practice.

Oh come now, don't play stupid. If it's a white rat , it will not represent the majority. If it's a zebra-striped rat, then the govt. will constantly complain about it not having enough black in it. So just make it black then i don't have to hear about it anymore .

I can see empty rugby stadiums when the Proteas, Rats or whatever play in a test match. No other sport team has done as much to unify the nation as the Bokke.
