Boks snub Soweto

As I have said in other threads on this forum, SA Rugby really is not serious about getting ALL the people of SA interested in the sport.

The whole country got behind the team regardless of political issues, and none more so than in Soweto, where I watched the match in Diepkloof. And instead beeing seen to thank people of Soweto for their support, they pull this stunt.
 
What about the thousand of other towns that supported the boks? Get off your high horse and stop finding excuses to lay into rugby. These guys have been away from their family for months, let them get a well deserved rest. Really stupid comment in my opinion.
 
If you have to blame someone blame the organisers - not the Boks.
 
I'm not sure if they're coming to Zeerust, but we supported them in any case :D

You can't seriously expect the Springboks to visit every city in the country?

What cr@p, they are doing sponsorship rounds to all other places, they could have just tried to generate some positive PR and gone through and just drove around the streets.
 
Oh FFS, stop moaning already, we've got top honours in just about everything in rugby, WC winners, top of the world rankings, team of the year, we have the player of the year and we have coach of the year and you still manage to WHINE about the Boks not visiting freakin' Soweto?? The Boks have had a tough campaign and deserve a rest, they're visiting the main areas and that's it, you can't possibly expect them to tour the country now. :rolleyes:

They could have driven around the whole of SA to generate even more support? You're gasping at straws around a silly argument. Positive PR? With posts like this around every corner someone will have something negative to say.
 
They seem to have chosen the towns and cities based on numbers of supporters. How many of them live in Soweto?

They going to JHB CBD and last i checked there werent too many white people around :)
 
They have one day to do joburg and pretoria, then still fly to another city later that afternoon/evening. You can't expect them to cover every single inch of Gauteng.
 
It would be sensible for them to go to Soweto, and good PR too. Not going will just give ammo to those govt idiots who want to rename the team and dress them in pink jerseys.

Well, what you say sounds reasonable.

IF they had not toured anywhere in the first place. But they did. So, why not Soweto too?

If they want to rename anything we have seen that nobody can stop them. The same idiots named the streets and continue so to do willy-nilly. Why bother trying to convince such arrogant farts?

You're an intelligent guy, I'm sure you know why. In case you don't here's why: 2 month tournament = long + tiring, it makes sense for them to visit the CBD of major cities where they'll get the most exposure quickly. These guys are also flying all over the country and can't just concentrate on Gauteng. And if the peeps in Soweto were such avid fan then I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for them to take a little drive out to Pta or Jhb to see their heroes like everyone else. :)
 
Lol at the south african way of life. Nothing is ever right. Shame, they didnt go to Soweto.
 
What makes Soweto so special from a rugby perspective anyway. There are many townships in the Eastern and Western Cape where rugby is a passion, but I don't hear any of them complaining 'cause the Boks aren't visiting.
