This works out to R1620 per month, but everyone on social grants complain that whatever it is that they're getting it's not enough and they cant survive.
However, the following link says i may have grossly underestimated a food basket and almost by half, but not everyone eats chicken and potatoes. Most of the population eat pap, but this could be equated to the price of a loaf of bread. Still it looks as though we're being ripped off at every corner...

Let's say that pit sand and aggregate at an average of 3 (150Kg) and 2 (100Kg) to 1 bag of cement to make concrete, plaster and dagga, bricks and fencing, sleepers and RDP houses at 435 units per day, (the latter are built to a ratio of 5 and 2 heaped wheel barrows to a bag of cement and that's why they fall down) and that the price of each of these measures sand and aggregate measures equals the cost of a bag of cement. = 3,385,600,000
