people tend to blow things out of proportion,IMO what would you do if you were a farmer,Nowadays farmers let alone normal south africans are constantly in danger from crime/murder.

This 11 year old should never of been there,Why why why did he go into/onto the farmers property and what was the boy doing on his property.

you guys sit and ask and defend the child becos he is a child yes? well WAKE up!!! ive seen 8 year olds thrown into peoples cars and hi jack them,Ive had a child crawl through my window and open my locked door so his older/bigger friends can come and ohhhh say rob me!!

there are worse things that has happened that we will never know, than a child been mistaken for a animal and a farmer being vigilant

peace out!
according to the article the farmer knew the boy very well. He said the boy used to open the gate for him. The boy therefore could not have been trespassing. His parents work in the farm and probably live there as well. There's a possibility that there are other children in the same vicinity. Therefore, I agree that it was a mistake and not racially motivated. But the fact remains that this farmer should have received a stiffer penalty. He was negligent and irresponsible with a gun - a deadly weapon. So please let's not try and bring more issues (racism, crime) into this. I don't think such issues fit in this debate. Perhaps it's an indication of how paranoid people are in SA. Everything has to be racially motivated because there's blah, blah, blah crime and farm murders and so on. C'mon thought the boy was a dog. No where does it say that he was being attacked by criminals.

I have an opinion on this matter and I have given it and just because you may not agree with it doesn't mean I'm a troll, who the hell do you think you are!? I have ignored you previously but you continue with your bitching, if I'm a troll ignore me and let others decide for themselves whether they want to entertain my posts or not, I'm sure they are mature enough to make that decision without your "advice".

If this weren't so pathetic it might actually make me really quite angry. However, I am not a troll. I wish to bring my own , equally valid opinion to this debate, and you are welcome to either continue to ignore me or not, that I leave up to you. Either way, I shall continue to engage with all the other, sensible members this forum. Even, or sometimes especially those with different opinions to me. There is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy debate, with sensible adults.

Racially motived trolls and agitators on the other hand...

See, Angelo, here is a perfectly sensible argument which I think perfectly sums up the debate. I fully agree with and endorse this statement.

Ok that wasn't in the article I read originally.

ok then: why on earth would his mother alow him to run around without telling her and asking her consent?

as my mother would say to me when i was young "dont go to far and stay near home"

so maybe if the parents did something about it,It would never of happened.Even if the parents werent around maybe they should of left someone in-charge. yes?

Maybe he had no parents or anyone to look after him...

The article says he thought it was a stray dog that had been giving him trouble for some time. No racial act!! I dont think he would have shot if he thought it was anything else. He didnt expect there to be a child on his premises. He will regret it for the rest of his life!

I think the whole situation is extremely hard to judge sitting on the sidelines..
People shouldn't make judgement calls from a single news article.

Every day on the road I see people being irresponsible with dangerous weapons - their cars, cars are probably more dangerous than guns due to the fact that nobody treats them with the same respect as a gun. Ask yourself, how often do you see someone nearly cause an accident on the roads? Most of the time people are just darn lucky that no one gets hurt..

Now if you caused such an accident how would you feel about it if everyone sat there calling you a murderer or saying that it was a racial attack etc.. ? Humans are careless and irresponsible - they make mistakes all the time.. but an accident (assuming it is geniunely an accident) can never be considered murder.

From reading the articles I detect no hint of racism - remember that a farmer is amongst his workers every day, I am pretty sure that if this was the case there would be more evidence to support it

From what I have read he seems to be very upset about it - the fine and distraught is for him not managing his firearm correctly, from what I can see he did not murder anyone

You are a troll due to your previous behaviour and your same behaviour on this thread. You make the allegation that it was a racially motivated killing without any kind of explanation or substantiating evidence.

Angelo, you are pathetic. Your racist views is clouding your judgement.

Please come run around in my field and go woef....

If one person calls thee a donkey, pay him no mind. If two people call thee a donkey, get thee a saddle.

This is South Africa in a nutshell. If a dark skinned person and a light skinned one are involved in anything, it automatically becomes a race issue. It's an obsession.

Speaking of farmers, another two were attacked this week.

If one person calls thee a donkey, pay him no mind. If two people call thee a donkey, get thee a saddle.
LOL:D
Wonder who said that?

Another racial murder gone unpunished, justice will only be considered when the people take matters into their own hands against this murderer.

In reply to his irresponsible statement:

I will start punishing the people around me since I'm convinced I will be affected by crime if I continue living in this country.
I will count the number of white farmers who were *tortured* and killed and extract vengeance.

Obviously what I said just now is wrong, so reconsider your statement.

Shooting a gun should be done with all care and responsibility, just like driving, but not everyone is a perfect driver all the time, this man committed man-slaughter, I am sure he was unaware that it was a young child, just because it happened to be a black child does not make it a racist crime. He would have shot and killed a white child also.

Color is no longer important to most South-Africans except for people like you who continue to hammer in the differences with one hand and with the offer that we are all equal.

Angelo, I'm a better person than you are and you are not my equal. You are a racist and I am not.
