The point is we can never really move on if people are always going to be hung up on this stuff.

Obviously it depends on the context in which it's used. If you're being serious then I agree it's not cool. But if it's a mutual friendly thing, then who cares?

Government outlawing that word has made it more powerful as a hate driver than any other measure could possibly do. This is unfortunate. Parents who cannot explain the reason for a word being outlawed properly to their children bear the responsibility for the result when the word is used. However, the responsibility must exist on both sides, the ones offended by the illegal word must understand as well, and be schooled in how to deal with it.
