Boy stabbed over 'racist' hello

No, he offended all of us as a group. Why should only one guy get a piece of the action?:D

Because what your group did was wrong and reaffirmed his misconceptions, in effect your group made it worse.

Was thinking, as a white, male, durbanite, does anyone know the really offensive term for such a person, one that is equal to the k or D word?

What D word? Do you not meen B word? I was given a warning over the B Word?

Apologize to someone he wasn't even talking to and had nothing to do with HIS conversation. And then being pushed around..? Im sure the boy knew very well what was going on and decided to let his hormones do the talking instead.

Bit naive don't you think? If you heard a word which in most white on black contexts is highly offensive wouldn't you say something?

We once bliksemed a white guy at tech for the exact same thing. He never did it again. These kids took it too far though.

Would of love to see you try that in my school ROFL! WOuld have sent you crying to your mommies...

Geez people that gang up just p33 me off!

Sure,

Might ask him to tone it down a bit. But to go so far as to stab him for something that wasn't even directed at him?

It's like me walking down the street and I see 2 guys hitting each other. Now instead of me leaving them be or maybe try and stop them. I instead just choose one guy I want to side with and help him kick the shyt out of the other.

There is so much wrong with this picture ;)

The stabbing occurred after the headbutting, something which wasn't necessary in the situation.

But then there is another side to this story. It's no longer the "Racist comment" It's an Stabbing following an altercation with the same student.

If some one pulls you around, what are you going to do? I would have done the same in his situation. The guy who intiated the 1st altercation asked for the head butt by not being civil and telling the white guy that he shouldn't say such derogatorry words...

I doubt the kid would've been stabbed if he didn't make the racist comment. Are you telling me if you go into a shebeen and shout "k%ffirs" just because it's not aimed at anyone in particular it's justifiable?

+1. I wouldn't take kindly to being pushed and pulled around.

Now if I was to look at this I would think the following is the set of events and each has it's own merit.

1. Victim is being pushed around based on a comment made to another student. (This is relevent to the "Racist" Comment)

2. Victim headbuts the attacker (This was because of the pushing)

3. Later in the afternoon the attacker Stabs the Victim because of point 2

So this no longer has anything to do with the "racist" comment. Even though it might have started from there.

Two wrongs don't make a right, I agree it shouldn't have to end with the stabbing but it could've have been avoided if the parties just understood that there it was a long standing joke (according to the father anyway). This is another near fatal incident that could be avoided with a little common sense.

If you bothered reading some of the other posters, it seems that you cannot take offense to someone unless they are talking directly to you.

+10 The guy who ( according to the article ) started it:
The boy (who took offence), a Grade 9 pupil, grabbed me by my shirt and yanked me around, so I hit my head against his head," said Jeandré.
Also stabbed the kid.

Remember all the hormones ego? Of course he head butted the guy that had nothing to do with race it had to do with ego.
But when you do that you do not think the guy and his friends are going to ambush you with a knife later on. Maybe a bit of a fist fight again, that said if the head butt incident were bad were the principal not suppose to do something about this? So I guess that were a minor thing no blood and broken noses involved.

I think If i remember boys, This is all about ego.
