Gary, into which exchange are you wired, I go into the one on Hennie Alberts, located between Alice street and Hart Laan, waiting for the exchange to upgraded so that I can be changed to 10Mbps

How do I find out where my exchange is? I think there is a telkom box across the road, not sure if that is the exchange? I stay in Lily Road

Perhaps a google map highlighting the exchanges in Brackenhurst can be helpfull in this thread?

That's the one I thought I was also connected to.
I'm in Overbury street, so I can't be that far from it, definitely under 2 kms.

We live very close to each other and I have terrible latency with online gaming. Not just from 4pm, but the entire time.

Oh and my exchange seems to be Meyersdal aswell. "You are connected to the MEYERSDAL (RMEY) exchange."

Just an update. Since yesterday. There's been an increase of static on my line. It keeps disconnecting me now from the net. It's very frustrating.

Yeah, I think we are both in Lily Road.

I have no issues during the day because I am at work usually so I might not notice them...

The thing is that these issues only started about a week ago, I am going to phone Telkom tonight to see if I can get it resolved.

I will test noise on the line tonight.

Did you manage to test the noice on the line?

Update:

Telkom got to my house and somehow managed to solve the static problem somewhat.

I then strangely had 400+ ping on local gaming servers so I did a full factory reset on my modem and the ping dropped down to 130ms(which has always sadly been my norm). So it seems I'm back to normal. I'd still like it if my ping were better.

I think that you would get better ping with a different ISP I have heard MWEB and Webafrica are good choices for gamers

I'm already with Mweb although I am open to try other ISP's to see if the ping changes.
