Watch out for clever marketing and specialised spin doctors who can sway your mind on these dubious issues
 
The other one is MTN's 50% mahala discount.

Don't be fooled. It only lasts you a couple of days at most.

The 50% mahala is in big bold print. But, the fine print (which is not always clearly visible - you need to look for it) gives you some very unsettling T&C's.

R10.00 = 1 day of R5.00 extra airtime.
R30.00 = 5 days of R15.00 extra airtime.
...
R500 = 30 days of R250 extra airtime.

I bet you cannot convert the extra airtime into data bundles.

Disappointing. It doesn't fly with me. In fact I feel cheated. And I am sure there are thousands of people who are being misguided and dooped into thinking it is extra airtime in the regular sense by this conniving scheme.

Yeah I loath disinformation where important matters are concerned. As far as advertising goes I can't be bothered really, it's advertising..., but I expect better from the leaders of a country. Sure they are politicians - Intrigue and half truths has historically been the norm. Doesn't make it right.

The Unreal deal from Cell C is embarrassing. If they know what's good for them, they will retract it asap. It is not wise to tarnish their good reputation (which cost them a lot in time and money) with a silly offer like this. It is like treating your clients as fools. I mean really Cell C?
 
I try make it a habit to ignore everyone's "deals".
When I decide I need some thing I then start googling and compare, compare, compare.
Always ask how does this benefit me.

A company is never going to offer you a deal that they are going to make a loss on.

You are reading it wrong. The thing is not to just read what the article says, but to understand what it wants to warn people against. There are more examples of fact vs fiction that this journalist could have quoted as well, but that would have been overkill. Often times people only read about the deals when it is announced, but never really get to read the real value after some period of time has passed since the announced.
 
don`t trust advertising in general, not at all, none whatsoever

why should ISP`s or cellphone service providers be any different than scientific sounding shampoo advertisers

haven`t ever paid heed to to any of these bull**** promotions
