Bring Back Checkers Discounts with eBucks

Die krane word stadig maar seker toe gedraai ne .... skep terwyl dit reen (so gaan die spreekwoord ne)

You say rotational do you know that for a fact? Then I will just wait it out....

Not Fact, just recorded conversation with the Ebucks agent that said it will be on a rotational basis like how Dischem is...
basing it on this...

If you're going to throw a tantrum, maybe at least get your dates right. The Checkers discounts have been gone for a week already.

It actually only got deactivated on the 07.02.2018, i bought my last voucher on the 05.02.2018... and internally ebucks consultants got emails regarding this deactivation on the 06.02.2018.

Us plebs were not able to buy since the start of the month.

Yea, someone takes a knock that's for sure. They could also just close those loop holes I guess but that sounds rather like an admin nightmare and probably has to be done on the merchants part.

I actually met the CEO of ebucks last year at a conference in CT. And he vaguely mentioned they want to go full eccommece, similar to takealot. He said something about buying bulk from the big retailers and then offering those products on discount on the ebucks store.

I would imagine that this being predominantly a marketing exercise for their partners there is also a need for vouchers to be purchased in a distributed fashion.

So if everyone is just buying Checkers vouchers then other partners are not seeing returns.

It wouldn't surprise me if FNB actually pulled checkers because other partners demanded to have a piece of the pie.

well there is that or also a big chance as people said that it was being abused wholesale. But we will never know unless they make an announcement.

But how is everyone cheating?
Surely if you can do it, it's legit?

Cheating? No. Abused? Maybe. lol.

People seem to be very ingenious on maximising ebucks earn and then maximising the spend, in manners that the designers never even thought about at all...

T&C on wicodes says you can't use them to buy any other form of voucher. So strictly speaking moving them to a gift card is naughty. Using them for egift24 as well.

Well my pre bought vouchers disappeared :(

They always available on the app... under my vouchers
I had one disappear once, though I had spent it already but just found it odd that it was deleted. Thankfully I had them all saved under Google Keep. I usually make a comment when I delete them off the app which is why I found it strange that it was deleted but no comment.

A bunch of vouchers disappeared from my app the other day, although they had all been used. Must be something FNB changed on the app

Yeah this looks like a bug or data loss, as my most recent voucher bought and used is gone, but other older used vouchers are still there.

So am I missing something... you can only buy discount vouchers with ebucks (not rand equivalents). To get (enough) ebucks to buy groceries at checkers you would have to spend bucket-loads of cash elsewhere.

Unless someone is "selling" their ebucks, which I'm pretty sure would be against the T&Cs.

i think it may be a new thing on the app now .. since the upgrade last weekend, when i use a voucher, it disappears.. maybe.. who knows

You're missing something. You've never been able to buy discounted stuff with cash, always only ebucks (at least as long as I've been on ebucks). And selling ebucks is very acceptable, they even provide the online functionality to make it easier.

I know that. Thats exactly what I was saying. I've used the "send ebucks" feature a lot to gift my ebucks to the wife to buy airplane tickets etc.

What I'm failing to understand is the OP's comment about using the shoprite vouchers for groceries for low-income households. It takes money to make ebucks... Unless there is some dodgy scheme on going where a level 5 client (with -40% off) is purchasing ebucks for cash from other FNB clients (possibly at a better exchange rate), then buying shoprite 40% off discount vouchers and reselling those a slight premium. Seems like a lot of work :)
