So my BIL has signed up with BritishTV.org on a recommendation from a friend who has been on it for years. I looked at it and immediately felt (a) scammy and (b) too good to be true. I couldn’t find an app on Apple store. Anyone happily using this, paying yearly? Pros and cons?

Been using it for around 5 months now.

I guess it depends what you using it for.

I'm using it exclusively for the sport and despite there being literally 8000+ streams available, it's a classic case of quantity over quality.

So the UK streams all seem to work extremely well. But the Supersport channels are hit and miss. Sometimes they work, sometimes they buffer incessantly, sometimes they dead in the water, period.

Every 2nd stream I try doesn't work but if just 30% of them work, there's enough material there to keep you happy for the rest of your life.

They have a ticketing system and always respond to queries, usually within 24 hours due to the time difference. I think they US based.

If you experience any performance issues don't expect much by way of a solution, other than the usual generic stuff.

Britishtv also doesn't provide a m3u link so if you want to use it on Windows PC you'll need to side load Bluestacks Android emulator to get the Onecloudtv/Smarters app running. That's a massive pain in the ass. Bluestacks is resource intensive.

Smarters Lite is the Apple app required to run it. It's fairly stable app but has a multiscreen feature, which for watching multiple streams simultaneously is just incredible, buuuuuuuuut it doesn't work most of the time!! App crashes probably due to the huge load required to run.

Anyway, it gets the job done, one way or another but for the last 2-3 months I've been looking for alternatives.

Colby tv and Cloud flix being the latest. Both support m3u and both are geared towards SA/DSTV/Supersport. Cost is similar and because they based locally, support via Whatsapp is usually within an hour or so....

Have you tried either of these? Cloudflix seems a bit more trustworthy (if any of them are) - perhaps just lest dodge

I've used all 3, Cloudflix, Colbytv and BritishTV.... Colbytv is consistently the best for me.
I'm trying the Cloudflix trial. The Live TV streams OK, but the VoD content is a bit ... shall I say ... lacking.
It's all these second-rate movies and series that you can probably watch for free on Plex. There is nothing there that I am looking for.

My BiL got a britishtv.org subscription two or three months ago. He paid - I believe - 1 or 1.2 K for 12 months.

Now I see that the subscriptions have skyrocketed, because the cheapest option is 150 GBP for 2 devices / year, which is 3.5 K ZAR, which is prohibitive.
