Broadband competition hotting up

It seems that although "competition" is increasing, Iburst is not if fact becoming more competitive.
I for one had gone with them while waiting for ADSL and although their product was pretty good - they are way too expensive today. R 1,100 for 9Gb ? - I get 30Gb from IS for the same price and much faster speeds......
 
even after the decrease in their prices it's still very expensive

They can make it 99c for a 384 line but with so little cap what can you do with it?!

I my self dont care much for speed :) gimmi 512k line and make it uncapped and will be a happy man!
 
As an ex-MWeb dialup customer I'm no fan of MWeb and its pricing, but I would be interested in seeing a price comparison between MWeb and iBurst SA [WBS] as far as ADSL & iBurst & HSDPA are concerned - I suspect that MWeb competes better than iBurst SA does where price is concerned...

IMO one of iBurst SA's major flaws, is still that its billing resembles bovine excrement, iBurst SA is not even at the bottom of the list of companies I would consider dealing with - not even on a pre-paid basis.
 
You know every few days we hear of how broadband is improving here. BUT we do not see the result of it?

Can we really talk about competition "hotting up" when this price will, roughly speaking, buy you e.g. an 8Mbit unlimited-use connection in the UK? And even that's crap these days by leading international standards. I don't appreciate words that imply there is some sort of a positive state here, we have cheaper options but they're all "pay less and get less". Like linoman says, I'm not seeing any real improvements.

The headline should be "Internet STILL a pathetic backwards third-world joke in South Africa", not "competition hotting up".

Howcome people actually gor for iburst when they are a rip off?

I mean my mother-in-law pays R149 for a 200mb service?

Maybe because they advertise these things deceptively by saying things like "that's 50,000 e-mails or 10,000 web pages!!!11!1!!eleventy1" that make it sound like some large practically inexhaustible supply of bandwidth?

A few Windows and anti-virus updates for a single computer will probably blow half of that before you even start.

Indeed you did.... I was just being a smart-ass... course the one to convince has always been the account payer i.e. The GameWrecker, and he has sadly not found his way here on a regular basis....
