Browser battle begins

As McNealy predicted — a decade too early as it turns out — the network is becoming the computer.

So true. Wish I could make my laptop just boot up instantly into Firefox ;)

Seriously though, I'm not really a fan of Chrome. It's far too feature-light for me. I can deal with my marginally slower Firefox for all the customisation and add-on functionality it provides.

Competition is good though so I welcome it. Apparently Firefox 3.1's performance is comparable to Chrome's.

Perhaps Google created Chrome just to show the world that they can! They are expanding their options from just a search engine to something more widely used like a browser :-)

Good job Google!

I dont use many plugins in FF.. well not many that I cant live without. Ive always tried new browsers and moved on. Started on Netscape, moved to IE, tried opera out.. it failed my requirements, moved back to IE, moved to Maxthon, tried Opera again, moved over to Firefox.. and have being using that for the last couple of years. However, when Chrome came out.. I thought "well let me just try it out".... and a couple of weeks later, I am still trying it out!!!

I know it does not have many features, but right now its just so quick and light and stuff. Im sure FF is a better browser... but Chrome is actually working for me fine.

Anyone here tried Apple Safari? :) It installed on my PC as part of an Apple QuickTime auto update.

Yeah, there was a lot of hoo-hah about that - installing new software, unasked, as part of an update?! No thank you.

I tried Safari, and Chrome is built on the same base (WebKit). Given the two, I'd choose Chrome at this point.

Posted using Firefox 3.0.1.

I cant use try out chrome, seems as though it only supports vista and xp, i'm still on 2k.

Blah.
