Browsing on PC vs Cellphone???

Talking MB for MB. Why is browsing on a cellphone so much cheaper than a PC?
Is it because the cell screen is smaller? If so, at what size does it get more expensive?

It shouldn't be cheaper if you're using a full browser on your phone. But you are probably using Opera Mini. It resizes the image sizes.

You'll use the same amount of mb regardless... except when using Opera mini, it resizes the images before displaying them.

Opera Mini's servers include compression technology similar to Onspeed etc. as well, it's a bit more advanced than just images

For quick browsing a cellphone is fine - but if you want to surf seriously, a PC is best.

I'm using Opera 10.00 Beta on my netbook, it also uses the compression that Opera Mini uses. Hopefully I'll save some bandwidth in the long run this way. It crunches the images on a page to the point where the jpg artifacts are visible, but you can switch off compression if you're visiting a site where you need to see good quality images. I get an average of 3x compression.

I'm a Firefox fan but Opera won me over with their features and performance. Firefox was a memory hog on my netbook. Opera runs like a well-oiled machine.
