Brutal video doing the rounds [Update: suspects arrested!]

The video of woman being attacked by some people wearing ANC shirts might not be recent, police said on Monday.

"We have seen the video, it looks a bit old," spokesman Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale told Sapa.

"It does not seem to have happened recently."

The two-minute video shows a woman in an orange T-shirt on the ground being kicked and pummelled with the back of an axe. Some of the people in the crowd are wearing African National Congress T-shirts.

The Star newspaper reported on Monday that the video was posted by Adriana Stuijt, a journalist staying in the Netherlands.

Stuijt told the paper the attack took place on election day and that the woman was a member of the Congress of the People. She was quoted as saying the attack took place in Gauteng where violence was still continuing following the election.

"We still need to establish its authenticity because no one seems to know where it comes from," Makgale said.

He appealed to anyone with information about the video to contact the police.

The vimeo video looks like the original source, which was tweeted at around 7:13 AM 9 May by her. And she has a lot of followers and she herself is following a lot of people. A lot of like minded people and the facts are questionable, for instance she uses "many people" wearing ANC T-Shirts when there's like one, and she wasn't even part of it.

She might also want to reconsider not mentioning the location, this video has gone viral and it's only a matter of time before the wrong people see it, they could easily track her friend down. There's enough information in the video you can gather to ID numerous people once you've got the exact location. So she's actually putting the source in danger, especially now that the word is out that it happened in Gauteng.

Video didn't last long on vimeo and doesn't seem to have the liveleak mark so it might be possible it could still contain the metadata.

This lady, Adriana Stuijt, is the one always writing about "Boer genocide in SA" and posting pics and stories about how blacks in SA are wiping the "Boers" out.
She posts gruesome pics on Censorbugbear and writes crazy stories.
Apparently even the guys on Afriforum say they don't even take her seriously.

And that the media was very specific to note it as such and not that they were ANC supporters?

Its sickening nonetheless. Political tolerance or lack thereof has always been a big problem in SA.

It seems clear that someone was murdered, but where and when ?
 
Not sure if downloading the vimeo would reveal anything, no idea if gets re-encoded or what.

But If you take my phone for example and record a video you get the following:
20140512_190039.mp4

Shows the exact date and time. If you look at the details of the file, it says date created and date modified.

Maybe ask her nicely for a screenshot of the original file?

She has been asked.... she is refusing point blank to give any more info, to protect her "source".
She says she doesn't want the person who recorded the video to become a target.
Sounds like a fishy story to me.
 
She's as dodgy as her stats.

I hope she is charged with inciting violence if it's proven that she was lying. Even then it will all be part of the marxist left-wing liberal ANC savage agenda.

Well whatever she is doing is working, the vid has already even my Facebook and from someone who is Canada.
She and the first sites to have reported it seems to be aimed at South Africans abroad, getting hits with sensationalism and graphic violence, damn be the actual facts and bringing these animals to Justice.
It's like one huge anti-South African campaign no matter the cost/impact or accuracy.

I really don't think having videos like this out there is a bad thing, making people aware of the atrocities but keep it factual dammit. The media houses are equally responsible looking at that tripe that the The Star had on it's front page. Pure emotive drivel.

Timezone?

This raises another interesting question, what time of day did this take place, the Sun is visible, should be a certain height (Gauteng area to believe), should be able to get some kind of direction and scan Google Maps for possible rural areas which have a big open area. There were a lot of people, so should of been near a settlement, but they never face the direction of where there are houses at. But there was a big blue building semi visible and objects that looked like towers/flags/

Guess one can't solve these kind of stuff in a day's time, speaking of which I'm out of it. Must go study.

That woman is insane. She's well known for posting disinformation and known lies to push her agenda wich is purely racist in a way that's hard for even the racist denialists to not acknowlege.
