Budget Speech 2020

This sums up where the looting will be, thank you

Lol, they increase it every year grow up. The fact you think that sums it up shows your understanding. Would you have preferred they do a once off tax , increase vat and push the brackets up ?

Can someone give us a TL;DW version of the budget speech?
The Fooled you by not lifting vat and paye, but they hiked feul exponentially.

So you are worst off than before.

Fuel goes up, everything else go up, food, everything.

I would have preferred an increase in VAT, so that everyone can see the increase directly, rather than the fuel levy which just obscures the increase and makes the lay person think they not paying anything extra
Price at the pump will increase. Public transport fares will increase...

Exponentially you say?
The feul levy have doubled over the last 10 years. So it isn't that wrong.

I remember someone said 10c increase in the feul levy would pay for etolls long ago. We've had many times that.

Here is the fuel and RAF levy for the last 10 years. Those lines look pretty linear to me.

  • Income tax is down. You'll be taking home about R417 mor pm.
  • TFSA annual limit is now R36k, up from R33k
  • No VAT increase
  • Fuel levies increased by 25c per liter
  • Sin taxes (including Vaping) up.
That's it for the stuff that has an immediate effect on your pocket.

The rest is cutting the NHI budget, civil servant salary budgets etc. The unions are already upset.
