Here's a thought for dominic & alacos, as well as Ant, does the fact that Telkodemonopolies chose to abide by the Competition Tribunal's ruling on the BCX merger, not set a precedent whereby Telkodemonopolies acknowledges the authority of the Competition Commission and Competition Tribunal, and effectively sets aside all previous statements it [Telkodemonopolies] has made contesting the authority of both the CC & CT to rule on telecommunications related competition matters?

If Telkodemonopolies had still contested the authority of the CC & CT, then it would have effectively ignored the ruling and gone ahead with the BCX merger claiming that the CC & CT did not have any authority to rule on telecoms related competition matters - that however did not happen - instead Telkodemonopolies accepted the CT's authority and chose to abide by the ruling...

Bearing in mind that the merger between BCX & Telkodemonopolies was in fact a telecoms related competition matter.

PS: I'm amazed that Roy has spoken again - in public nogal  :).

Very interesting point.

I disagree... Tiger Brands paid that fine with a smile, they simply increased the bread price and recovered the fine. So they didn't even feel the punishment. The price is high because they are a cartel, a monopoly. They have been and still are, on a crusade to buy out all the smaller food companies. They are even more cunning and crafty than Telkom.

I worked for Pioneerfoods trust me theres no way they would absorb that fine  Its basic food products you buy or you DIE :o

Did Tiger Brands cut bread prices?

Prices only go up, not down, no matter if production costs get halved.
They simply pocket the extra money.

Johan, I only asked if they will be forced to lower their prices, Tiger Brands got a fine.... They didn't get a new "regulation body"....
