Burger King Review

No lines tonight, busy inside. The have no crispy chicken and no something or other. Burgers MUCH better than previous visit.
Time from order to service 6 min.

Had a few things from TygerValley a few weeks ago. Everything tasted horrible and "plastic" if I may call it that. Its pretty crappy once the hype wears off.. Steers is much better even though I am no fan of them either.

If I'm going to eat junk at least it should be decent junk. So A) make it myself B) Eds diner C) Mr Bojangles when in midrand.

Steers at all levels, really isn't that good TBH. I've had better burgers at bars.

If I'm gonna sit down, Spur burger or Dros burger for me.

Fast food, make it a Steers Mega Rib burger!

As posted by a friend,

So I was in Tygervalley at lunchtime. Was tempted to go to Burger King but there was a bit of a queue. Besides that, I had a look at their burgers from what I could see from people in the food court; wasn't impressed. So I settled for a Mickey D's Spicy Cajun instead.

After almost two months of trying to avoid it, I finally headed in to the Burger King on the Foreshore last week Friday, motivated by the absence of a sizable queue (took me about 10 minutes to get through the door).

Here's a quick review: Place looks a mess...maybe it was just the traffic but jeez, it was very busy in there with what seemed like a hundred people behind the counter in a space that's about the size of an RDP house.

Service: Quick. Paid by card, no problem and settled on a double Whopper. Don't usually have fries with my burger but had the meal...just so I could get the full perspective.

Bottomless soda: After one small cup of Miranda (sp?) I had enough...couldn't pluck up the courage to head on over to the dispenser to fill it up again, seeing that it was also crowded.

First bite: I've got my whopper, with soda and sit down next to what looks like an Indian family from Durban (it must've been an outing for them). The bun was fresh, comparable to Micky D's...The burger was okay, only problem is that the lettuce was bathed in salad dressing/mayo. Overlooked that and tucked in. Nice, no sign of a gherkin. After about 20 minutes I was done.

Afterwards: Got into my car and set off to Table View...and as soon as I got home, I started feeling funny in the face...you know that feeling when you've had too much bad food and that fat feels like it can escape through your pores? That's how I felt.
To be honest there was nothing significant about the burger, but I felt funny afterwards. From that moment I told myself I'm never setting foot inside there again unless there's a Zombie apocalypse and they're the last joint with sustenance. But yeah, you're not missing out on much. I'll stick to Nando, Steers and Micky D's sans the fries (which is too salted for my liking).

How interesting on my last trip documented as no lines- I'll mention that while I cannot say with any certainty it is related to BK I woke up the next morning feeling rather ill and bones and muscles were all achey. I felt "off" This cleared up as the day moved on and I drank plenty of water. I too had the double whopper and Mountain dew and I rarely drink anything but water or nescafe with milk.Strange.

Ok, you guys gave me even more reason now not to try Burger King.

I usually eat healthy so today's Mickey D's was a treat. If both of you had that effect from a whopper though, then I'd rather not even go there.

It's probably coinciental and entirely unrelated but also remember BK South Africa is not a true BK . BK's very foundation is Pork, not this bled out grey gunk they call Haalal

If you're in South Africa, or any country with a significant Muslim population you've been eating "Halal" food already.

Dunno why you'd want to exclude almost a million Muslims in Cape Town, with a lot of disposable income, only for you to serve pork...it's like cutting you're nose to spite you're face.

SA muslim population is 1%.

Who says we have to cut them out? Have some Halaal and some non Halaal branches. Steers seems to do it quite well.

And kingrob is wrong. Muslin population is closer to 6%. So the other 94% of the country suffers due to a minority.

I thought SA was past that.
