Hello there, can anyone tell me what all the steps are if i want to buy a secondhand decoder from someone else?

And what if the person has only the decoder and no smart card anymore?

Regards

Make sure that there are no moneys outstanding by the person to MultiChoice, as they will not activate your smart card to the decoder if there are any money outstanding.

Not sure on the lack of smart card, phone Multichoice?

Buy a brand new decoder because it is safe coz DSTV may want u to pay a big amount before u can start watching

If you buy a second hand decoder, you will require the persons IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT as proof that the decoder has been sold with a letter.

Or alternatively if you do want to buy a secondhand decoder ask the person for their decoder number and serial number and contact multichoice directly they can tell you if anything is outstanding.

Rather buy a new decoder R599 including installation or HD R1500 INCLUDING installation.

HD R1500 INCLUDING installation.

I am not too sure that the HD PVR at R1500 includes installation? If so, a relevant link would be appreciated because I have a colleague that finally has done away with his 19 year old CRT 74cm TV, and purchased a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD TV.

It does not include installation

Thanks, I thought as much.
What I did when I had DTSV installed was to look for those R499 decoder/installation combo's. I then asked the guy to replace the single LNB with a dual. I gave him R250 extra for this.

I then went and bought my HD PVR and set it up in XtraView together with the 1131 decoder I got with the combo deal :)

Works out much, much cheaper, but that's if you have a need for XtraView :)
