Buying a Couch

Decofurn have some nice fake cane furniture. It's really low maintenance, if it gets dirty you just hose it down, and pop the cushions into the Bosch.

2-seater vs 3-seater : I'd say that it doesn't really matter. Just make sure that you can lie down comfortably on it. As for material, nothing beats real leather. Just stay away from faux leather or from bonded leather.

This is why I want a nice long "3 seater". Couldn't really care if it has 2 seats or 3 seats
I'm a simple man with simple requirements from a couch.

It absolutely positively has to be big enough to stretch out for a lazy afternoon nap in front of the teevee.

Bought our couch just before the lockdowns... It's a 2,5m x 1m three-piece modular suede jobbie and it replaced a leather couch... I'll say this, it's much cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and that's a thing you should think about too.

Ensure you have scotch guard and if you go leather you want full grain NOT genuine leather, genuine leather is the lowest leather grade. Full grain treated well will last VERY VERY VERY long.

Weylandts and Coricraft likely your two best options.

I'd order from grafton everest. That stuff will out live you and your descendants

Or get someone to make a custom couch.

My couches are from grafton and my furniture is made by art-tec. Very good stuff
"Grafton Everest", "Alpine", "House of Motani" (or Motani Furnishers as it's known today, wonder why ) and two or three other "strong" brands are all made in the same factory and belong to the same individual. Hint: It's not Tony Grafton. All are part and parcel of the Indian Mafia.

Recently bought a 3 seater recliner from these guys Recliner Online , will definitely buy from them in the future.

It's a online store but They also have pop stores if you want to see the quality.

My budget is around R10-13K for a 3 seater. Currently I don't need more than a 3 seater.

-Any online shops recommended?
-What to look for and consider when buying a couch?
-Anything you bought in the last 5-10 years that is still manufactured and consider good quality?
-What would you buy/do differently if you had to buy a couch again?

I do have a dog that jumps onto the couch, although trying for her to stop, in the evening she still go sleep there.

Have you had a look in your local second hand shops?

So which one here would be the full grain option?

Read this. Some companies "mislead" so do proper research

Learned something new. However, I would never know if they are telling the truth or not.

Go to coricraft they have all the leathers you can easily see differences
I'll go back again now that I have more knowledge. The staff on the floor are honestly useless, I'm not even sure if they will know. To me the options I saw did not look great, but will see what samples they have.

However, I doubt I will be able to afford such high quality leather and will end up going with the material.

I'd go for the second hand market if that's your budget. 10 - 13k wont get you a decent quality enough for 20 years use.

Well, as with most things I have never had to buy, I might need to adjust my budget and prepare a bit longer, or as you said, look for second hand. So one learns, specially in an economy that is falling apart.

Check gumtree or Facebook for people emigrating you could get something decent for well under your budget.
