Still a bit expensive to my liking. Need to cut it down with about R800. Oh, and will a 300W power supply be sufficient?

That PSU is definitely not sufficient, especially seeing as it is almost certainly a no name brand bundled with the case. Buy a case without a PSU and then buy an iSonic or AOpen PSU.

Definitely look for a cheaper 8800GT.

You could prob save a bit if you went for Hynix RAM from PCint, but your current price doesn't look too bad.

Maybe try and get a Samsung DVD drive, and look for one that uses SATA. You should be able to spend about R250 on your DVD drive.

Basically, the only way now to properly lower your cost is to look for a cheaper 8800GT, as your system looks pretty good.

so it would seem the HD3870 isnt as good as the older one; the HD2900XT, but the winner is clearly the 8800 ;)

Quad Core or E6xxx
Gigabyte P35/Q35
2GB+ DDRII 800 - past 2 GB no real performace gain, perhaps a little faster load time...
500GB+ HDD
8800GT 512Mb or HD3870 - As for who's better than who, in the Zoo? well past 40fps constant I see no difference :)

I see no more 8800GTS/GTX/Ultra ;) no longer in support from 08'

I wonder when Nvidia will get into the DDR4 market as Samsung is dropping DDR2 for 50c a chip!

Well, some games like Oblivion use more than 2GB RAM if available

I read somewhere that Nvidia will be releasing something to follow up the 8*00 series (somewhere early '08). So maybe it would be better to wait a while before making any moves?

The 9xxx series will most probably cost a bit more than the 8xxx series. If you can afford to wait, by all means.

Ya I think they are bringing out the high performance 9 series cards first, which'll probably be quite a lot more expensive than the 8800GT - at first anyway. If it was me, I wouldn't wait.

I also wouldn't wait, personally...
