I have a few questions.

1) Is it safe to buy stuff off steam ?

2) How does it work ? does it automatically convert USD to ZAR ?

I very rarely buy stuff online so im quite noob with it, some assitance would be appreciated

1. Very safe, I've been using Steam for years now with no security problems. As extra measure I use a PayPal account. But have purchased using my credit card directly.

2. Converts stuff automatically.

Its 100% safe. Even if by some chance they are hacked and there is a chance your details are compromised they will inform you. It also happens to be the only store I don't bother using paypal with as its an extra login, but it is a great extra security measure.

Steam works great! also keep an eye out for thehumblebundle that often sells steam games for quite cheap!

1) Its totally unsafe, will lead to spending a lot of money and unplayed games.

2a) You click buy.

2b) Small gnomes inside your pc, hard at work does the conversion.

Okay so just to answer your questions-
1) yes it's one of the few sites I would trust with my credit card details, although I prefer to use Paypal for all my online transactions.
2) sign up with Paypal. They will charge $1.99 to your credit card. That transaction will appear on your statement with a code that you need to enter to activate your account. Once activated you can begin your steam goodness and they refund your $1.99
-When you see a product you like on steam or any other paypal friendly site, you click to add it to your cart, confirm the details and it launches you into paypal.
-You log in to paypal, and confirm your purchase. (paypal pays for the product on your behalf, so the store will never see your credit card information.) it will also tell you how much it is going to cost in rands.
-Confirm and it takes you back to steam for a final confirmation. Once you are done your game is added to your steam profile.
- you then need the steam client to download the games.

Just prepare yourself for their sales. You are going to be spending a LOT of money.

Personally.... I just think of all these sales as karma.... its karma for my youthful days when I used to "copy" software..... so now I spend a lot of money and never have time to play much :P

On a side note, Steam is great, and if you want another option that works with Steam, you can buy codes off www.greenmangaming.com . They have a great selection and it seems like a 20-25% discount on everything + specials.
