Yes I agree with what you're saying regarding movie, music and porn downloads but when there is absolutely no work to be done then certain exeptions such as Youtube should be allowed.

Trust me when I say that the owners of the store can afford it. Let me also add that we have a 12Gb Cap.

Why don't you take this argument to them, and ask them to open up access in that case?

This is also an employment-term-shortening suggestion, as it is against most companies acceptable usage policy to install unauthorised hardware/software on a company asset, especially when installed for the purposes of bypassing a corporate control.
Even if the workstation/laptop belongs to you, plugging it into the corporate network and a modem opens the company up for all sorts of risk and if an incident occurs, you will still be found liable and terminated.
You should be really cautious what you install at work.
True.

I was recently using ZA-Portal to bypass my proxy here at work but they've since wised up and blocked it, not through the router, but rather through the ISP which is MWEB.

Does anyone have another site similar to ZA-Proxy that has the same functionality or a solution for this dihlemma?

Dude at least u can browse websites like ZA-portal.

My work has the whole internet blocked except a few websites, skype and gtalk.

Another unhappy victim. At least there are some people here that understand the frustration.

You are obviously aware that what you are doing is against company policy and are actively planning a way around this policy.

Continuing on this route will most likely invoke instant dismissal. Not because you broke a rule but becuase you are no longer trustworthy. This will be carried forward to any reference when your company will only confirm that you were employed for the period you were and offer no further comments as to your abilities, unless, of course they prosecute you and you end up with a criminal record.

I don't think you have to have youtube ...

BuffBoi, are you dim? If you don't like your company's policy pack your stuff & take the nearest exit... Maybe if you go rot at home somebody who actually realises the value of having a job can have yours.

Nobody here is going to help you contravene limitations enforced by your employer. Jeeeeezlaik, 3 pages of this dreck?

Hi this is the tech admin here. As a matter of fact i have in no way what so ever added any limitations to my network, however i am constantly struggling with mweb when it comes to sites like www.tagged.com and youtube and the likes there of. So when BuffBoi asked he was doing it on my behalf and not trying to go behind my back. However... Thank you for the ninjacloak to whoever posted it.

Lol that's a new low, posting as "somebody else" :D

Even if we do assume his story to be true, I'd have to question you being a tech admin if you cannot get around it.

I understand the frustration, but rather than run the risk of being dismissed for trying to be smart and bypass blocks that have been put there by powers greater than your internet addicted ass for a reason, I pop in my prepaid sim with Data bundles on it when there is no work to be done and pay for it myself. WTF man!?! Get over yourself.
