C.A.P.E. party

You’re being facetious. The WC would export, constantly renewable, intellectual product. They have reasonable uni’s and would have the freedom to determine academic standards and discipline. SA **used** to be respected intellectually. They have the wherewithal to do extensive research on alternative energy (Karoo – solar/coastline – tidal/Koeberg - nuclear). They can prevent water supply pollution and have the sea as a potential water source. They can do marine and coastal environmental research. Fish farming (sea) for protean. Etc. Etc.

Wine is far from being the only export.

ROFL

All your other points can be done as a country, and some are already being done by other provinces.

I just wonder how long it will be before the gangs in the WC overthrow it's little mini-government if they do manage to seperate.

All your other points can be done as a country...

No, they can’t. The educational standards are constantly falling (thanks ANC). This is INTELLECTUAL PRODUCT and the majority simply aren’t capable. There is a culture of entitlement and zero work ethic in the greater SA. The trend is not to boost achievers to achieve more, but to drag the country into mediocrity or ignorance as determined by the lowest common denominator.

@Fudzy, you are being a bit over the top, and plus we would have 4 times more tax money to spend,, or allow more businesses to flourish and come to being through lower taxes while still providing more wide spread and a better education, and we did select somebody with such a high moral esteem that i consider Zille to have, so no, more stability exists here.

That raises another interesting question, if the DA were chosen to run this little independent state then surely they would have to pull out of the rest of South Africa?

Yes this is what they are saying too. And no, you really don't understand the coloured community.

And it's not really that 'small', we do have a 100 billion dollar GDP

You are right, I dont understand them, care to elaborate?

Where are you getting your facts from? as they seem very far from the truth...

The Western Cape's total GDP for 2006 was R225.8bn, making the province the third-highest contributor to the country’s total GDP, at 14.7%.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Cape#cite_note-SAIRR-7

That's far from the $100bn or R700bn you are claiming...

Where do you get your 4x more tax money to spend?

This and other practical questions which I have asked have not been answered.

The DA isn't interested in secession. Thank **** for that.

I think pretty much ALL the points on that stupid website have been proven to be incorrect or totally naive many many times over before.

Ok, you convince companies that have spent hundreds of millions to build their HO's in JHB to move from JHB down to CPT cos its so attractive... oh and all the banks who have their HO's in JHB.... with all the processing abilities etc.. that would no longer be available to the CAPE since it would involve Forex stuff...

But why would they bother moving if as YOU CLAIM it isn't going to work? It sounds to me like you're very worried it WOULD work.

Figured I'd rear my ugly little head since this thread has been resurrected from the dead.

I'm not worried it would work, I know it wouldn't... period...

What all the naysayers seem to be missing is that this has sweet f-all to do with race. There is absolutely no reason why the Cape should not be a multiracial, multicultural independent country. All it takes is the will to get on with it.

Well it's going to have to be multiracial if they wan't domestic workers. Do you really expect all extremely poor white people to suddenly decide they need to clean toilets for richer white people in this secular state?
