*CABLE BREAK* affecting Gauteng region

We have received feedback that Telkom Technicians are anticipating to be completed with the fibre cable repair at 13:30pm. I will advise if this are any changes to this ETA.
 
3G in Fourways ranging from 0 to a a trickle of data.
Took about 10 minutes to finally get this page loaded succesfully and to post.

I was told that they would *commence* with the join at 13:30. Not exactly sure that this means they will be completed at 13:30.
 
what area's are all effected?

My internet working fine but our seperate connection to IS is down

is that because of the cut cable?
 
Cellphone data on Vodacom 3G/GPRS have been absolutely dismal since yesterday afternoon in the Randburg, Fourways, Olivedale etc. area...thanks to the @#$$ for digging through the cable..have been waiting about 10 mins last night (per email) to send a text based email with about 10 sentences in...
 
explains why i recieved good speeds earlier

apparently 155 pair fibre cable was dug up by a contractor. (hope their insurance is up to date). according to IS they are busy patching now and most of their clients will be up and running after 7pm.
 
Ha, While the international site seem ok stuff like Gmail etc our Local sites (sites hosted in SA) have a problem and load very slow. Banking sites, mybroadband, superport etc.
 
A friend of mine went down today and automatically assumed cap so got another gig... this happened before and they got 3gig that time... turns out they now have 4 gig spare (i.e only now reached the original 3 gig cap). They will never use those 4 gig... I'm willing to bet these outages do Telkom alot of favours money wise...
Of course it was stupid of my friend but that doesn't change the simple fact that many people out there are much like this friend.
