I'm really tired of reading this kind of justification for trampling all overestablished institutions and cultures.
There were no universities in this country before the Europeans arrived or before the Bantu tribes arrived. In fact they couldn't even write their own names.
My advice for supporters of name changes and the like - take government money and found institutions instead of running down existing ones.
As was said before, the alumnis of these places are sources of funds and they have an interest in their alma maters. I regularly get letters asking for donations from mine.

When last did you go to Hatfield? Almost the whole block between festival and hilda street on the side burnett street was demolished... New contraction is still underway. Rudy's was opposite Tings 'n times. I don't know where they relocated to.
The one in sunnyside has always been there all the time, i'm not sure if it is still there, i think it was in Sunnypark or Sterland.Last time I saw it, it was in Sunnyside...

So now you change the subject, because you are losing the argument. The article never mentions anything about your supposed 'dwindling' number of Afrikaans students at UP. The UP bosses are threatening the Afrikaans people. I know that. Because we do not live in a democracy. They don't like the ideas of FF+, who has been voted in democraticly for the last 7 years, so they do away with the democratic system. But believe what you want to belieave I guess.

Why would they want to "anglicise" classes if there was sufficient demand to justify the service. Perhaps they are battling to secure Afrikaans lecturers and perhaps the numbers of afrikaans students don't justify the expense. I leave the speculation as to what their reasons are for wanting to "anglicise" classes, up to you. Bearing in mind that they have always offered afrikaans classes, you should ask yourself what has changed.
By the way, the article says that about 500 -1000 students joined the march. I suppose most of the UP bosses are Afrikaners themselves and yet they are threatening Afrikaners and the FF+. You go figure.

This one's easy. Flood the Afrikaans medium universities with non-Afrikaans speakers, then demand they provide English classes or they will toyi-toyi (like children). While you're at it, vote in a new English-speaking SRC and vote out the Afrikaans Chancellor & Vice.
Introduce some corruption, employ your friends and use the official car for your personal transport and pinch the funds.

It is in Pretoria, what do you keep going on about it not being Pretoria. The name hasn't changed. Tshwane is the metropolitan area and Pretoria is in that Area. Same as Tshwane being in Gauteng.

The Afrikaans lectures are full and almost all of the Lecturers are Afrikaans (and give class in both English and Afrikaans). Many Afrikaans students choose to complete their degree in English because they want their degree to be usable outside SA (BIng, BSc, etc.). The Afrikaans students aren't in shortage at Tuks. And just because only 1500 students joined the march doesn't mean there isn't PLENTY Afrikaans students. I didn't even know about the March up until I read this thread and neither do I know anything about the Language medium being changed, I attend about 50% of my lectures in Afrikaans. The Dean has given no such indication, and there isn't a reason to believe he will.
