I have had endless trouble with my account. (Check previous listing regarding Dell Laptop and Canceling of Contract) No Fault of mine.

My phone has been barred 3 times (Soft lock) with the last one totally blocked. I have spent hours trying to soft this out with VC and on the 3rd of This month they just re invoiced me again for a canceled contract in March.

So is there any Chance of getting some BIG Bucks out of VC. :D

In this country, proving damages is quite simple.
Where are these damages shown in black and white?
What mitigating factors are there on both sides of the fence?
Quantify the mitigating factors and offset them against each other.

There you go.
You can probably sue them for all the costs that you incur for suing them and the money that you lost.

But, then again, I'm talking from my research done 5 years ago.

You'll have to wait for the brand new consumer protection legislation to be tested in court a couple of times before thinking of fantastic lawsuits.

you can sue whoever you want, even me :) but the curse of going the legal route is just that, a curse.... not to mention, will you even win... and then who pays your legal? rather get your problems sorted by the right people. vodacom/telkom/mtn/absa as companies are actually great.... its the idiots you have to deal with that is the nightmare. can v3g not help you or put you onto the right people?

Yes agreed. Sorting it out is the easiest only problem its not getting sorted. When I call 0821946 they say yes I see the problem and say that they will email Billing but nothing. I ask to speak to the supervisor and they will not put me through. Meantime I get my phone cut every 2 weeks.

v3g has tried to help it just seems that although they say its sorted its not and keeps re invoicing every month. Someone is not doing there job.

That's an understatement...

Let me find the old mails.

They really need to address that little problem. I get that every time.

Just spoke to the head honcho and he'll pick this up himself first thing tomorrow morning.

I'm not even going to try and apologise. It's just a #$%-up of note......

Some years ago a frustrated member of the public held a Home Affairs staff member hostage to get his point about the delay in getting an ID document or passport across. He was obviously arrested and charged, although I have no idea what eventually happened with the case, if anything. We all know it didn't improve service delivery in Home Affairs, on the contrary, it became much worse, even if nobody considered that it could get any worse.

Maybe a drastic action like that will work with a listed company...

Not forgetting the guy who took live snakes into his local bank.:p

Sure you can sue Vodacom. But I bet that a more informal approach will get things done with no hard feelings.

What do you think should happen with a stuff-up of this magnitude? No hard feelings, yeah right ...

Well in this case the numbers were a few hundred rand. Not insubstantial but not a patch on the bill I once got for electricity for R2200000! (yes that's 2.2 million Rand!).

After a huge fight, they passed me a R2M credit and nicely asked I settle the rest. (R200K!).

Took them a long time to admit that a house cannot consume so much electricity.

i think vodacom's server farms are hiding in your basement v3g! That is a monumental stuff up of epic proportions. Seriously. 2.2million rand. Unless you are operating a aluminium smelter in your bathroom there is no physical Way that domestic house could run up a bill like that. . .

The new consumers act states in this case that Vodacom cannot cut any of your lines as long as the dispute is under investigation. i would suggest that you call 0821946 again (soz mate, but its the only accounts number i know) and request an investigation to be launched. I've never had to do anything like this so I dont know what sort of reference or confirmation you will get but just be clear about what you want with the consultant. Maybe someone else here can define "under investigation" a bit better for us. aA bit of a loose term in my opinion.
I hopethis helps.

Careful....with Eskom's new proposed tariffs, it might be possible. :p
