Cancelling a Telkom Mobile contract.

So I am emmigrating and want to cancel my two contracts before I go.

Wow, who thought anything could be so difficult. Stores aren't interested and their call centre is absolutely rubbish. I even tried contacting the Telkom Rep on the forum but he doesn't seem to answer PMs on the topic.

At the end of Feb I am closing my bank account but I really want to do the right thing here even if it means shelling out termination fees.

Minimum is R800 + any outstanding usage + any handset fee I believe. I got sent from pillar to post with Telkom trying to get that amount.

Shot. Can you tell me if they pro-rata the handset cost or if you pay the full value of the handset?

I wish I new. I got a cheap ass little Samsung with the contract and there was still a device fee I had to pay, so I am guessing it will be the same for you. I pay R99.00 per month, so I was expecting then just the R800.00 as Telkom says they dont charge the remaining subs, just the R800.00 + device outstanding amount and unbilled usage. The call center quoted me something like R1800.00 and the Telkom rep here sent me another quote that was less but still over a R1000.00
