Cancelling Mweb tomorrow, need advice

I have had the mweb uncapped 512 for the last 5-6 months and the service and speeds are just getting worse everyday, takes 2 minutes to open itweb.co.za and 50% of other sites don't even open.

So firstly I will go to 4meg but with a cap. At the moment it works out about 550 for the line with telkom and 300 for 512 uncapped for mweb so total of 850.

How much does it cost to get 4 meg line and the normal cap with telkom as I am gatvol of ISP's and their promises.

Any help appreciated.

Why don't you try openweb before going to 4 meg? you will get more gb than capped and what is normal cap to you?

For me normal cap would need to 200gb :D, maybe you only need 10gb.

Also i am not defending mweb here but have you tested a another account to make sure it is mweb that is the problem? If so then try openweb for sure.
 
I would also like to know how much a 4Mb line from Telkom costs and how much the 9GB cap with them is. Anyone in the know?

Hi Chris_SA,

Which sites are not opening and have you tried cleaning out Cookies & temporary internet files from your browser?

Is it normal browsing speeds only or DL speeds also?

Service

I've just had Telkom resync my line from 3.5Mbit to 2.5Mbit becuase it would always drop my router. The connection is more stable but in this case its not an MWeb problem.

The problem is, there are a few things that can go wrong with the service as a whole. Be sure to check the line independantly first.
 
Try Openweb been with them for almost a year now they rock!
Good Customer Service from their CEO as well!

Well yesterday tried to download the twitter deck application but could not open the site, then I wanted to get Itunes but again the site did not want to open. Did not make a note of this as to be quite frank I was use to this on Mweb.

I have tried a VOX unshaped account and no problem, thats how the 512 should work and then I would be happy. I connect to the same exchange that Monte Casino uses so there will be no problems.

It took me 3 minutes to open mybroadband to reply to this thread so my patience has run out with this crap.

Gonna go for Telkom, will just buy extra cap if needed. Dont need to download the internet anymore. Looking at the 1982 looking telkom site the 4meg plus 9gig blended and 30 local it comes to....sorry I was waiting 10 minutes for the telkom page to download and got impatient. Looked this morning and it was about R561 for the do3 package.

I was promoting Mweb all this time but this has really become ridiculous, Telkom here I come...

Capped is best if you don't want the frustration. If however you download more than you actually use the internet for then go Openweb gold I believe (from what I read on these forums).

Afrihost capped packages very good and most of the time out performs WA and Telskommel.
 
Aren't there cheaper capped options that aren't Telkom (reason enough not to go with Do3)?

I actually cancelled my afrihost after one of the helpdesk guys told me that the rain and my printer has a impact on my adsl line speed. One of the worst IMO.

Looks like telkom it is, first have to do this 30 notice period with mweb, feels like I am about to resign from horrible company but still have to work there for another 30 days...

Well he was half right - the rain could have a impact on your line. Wet cables, open DSL boxes filling up with water etc.

In that case the line should not work at all, what is the data struggling to swim through the water? Please...

nothing wrong with mweb uncapped 4mbps here... and my account is subjected to the same limits as other 4mbps users, so I dont know why people complain so much =)
