Cancelling Mweb tomorrow, need advice

I have had similar issues in the past. Sites would not open up or they would just be extremely slow. I then created a PPPoE connection on my laptop using my MWEB username and password and all sites were extremely fast. Turns out that my router was the culprit. What is interesting is that when the router creates the PPPoE connection and acts as a tcp router, its slow, but when I create the PPPoE connection on my laptop and router is PPP router, its fast.

They complain so much because MWEB works only for some it seems..
Since everyone's application of the internet is different, there will be those who are happy, and those who aren't

I for one am not happy, just wish boss would be done with FYE and sign the paperwork so we can get REAL internet into this workplace.
 
yes tmweb has become very very slow i also noticed the change bought last month, tried restart router and leaving it off for a day, then speeds went back to normal. i think i have to do the same thing i did tiday

Could be the problem for me as well, I'm getting nasty browsing speeds on Mweb (have tried just about all of the suggested solutions). Though I have no idea how to do what you did.
 
The Sanparks site does not even want to open, will just add this to the list. one of these days mweb will only allow user to access "broadband friendly" sites. And its not my line or modem as other isp works like a charm.

I appreciate mweb taking the effort and have not had any customer problems during my time with them. I am just frustrated with the speeds on my line and restrictions to certain sites.

If I could get the same cap, speeds and access to sites on mweb as what I am going to get with telkom at the same price I will stay with mweb no problem. But don't think their is any package to compare.

I am thinking of doing the same. I have had mutiple support calls and assistance from them and the decision has nothing to do with their customer service - the shaping is just absolutely ridiculous. Especially on HTTP, pages just do not load - its terrible.

I have a backup shaped 1 GB account when I really need to access webpages and that outperforms the MWEB to a ridiculous level. Perhaps I'll give this Openweb Gold a go.

Also anything to stop supporting Naspers and their ridiculous DSTV prices...

HTTP browsing is not shaped AFAIK. Pages not loading is probably not a result of shaping. It could be that the source site (for example: SANParks) is down.
 
I'm guessing that Simmo's problem is isolated. My account has been perfect for a few months now. Top speeds, pages load fast enough (for a 384K account). I would have mentioned the line, but since the other account works fine, it must be his account. Hopefully MWEB Ops can fix it up. If you can, could we get feedback here for other customers?

+1 though my router is a crappy old Marconi one :D
