Cancelling Mweb tomorrow, need advice

Telkom is still your best bet, if you require a stable connection...

All of the other ISP's will let you down, especially MWEB - check their network notification page or hellopeter.com.

You rate Telkom better than an ISP offering SAT3 and Seacom access? Also Telkom's support... I'd rather put my connectivity in the hands of WebAfrica, Afrihost, OpenWeb etc than be phoning Telkom.

lol telkom have support?

they have no mybb rep, the okes on phone don't even know what adsl is half of the time.

True, but at least their speeds are constant and looking at 639 all inc for 9 gig international and 4meg it really does not look that bad.

9 gig is cool if your gamer or just browser.

but hd youtube will eat up that 9gb :(

Yeah ... I am on 30GB right now and it's only the 7th of the month. Then again, I did download a lot of stuff yesterday that I normally don't. Steam can be nasty if it wants to be.

You obviously don't live in South Africa!

Check the network notification pages of those ISP's you have suggested.

Strange how the Mweb rep immediately responds on a Sunday, but after realising that I am not at fault they just keep quiet...

There is no greater conspiracy here. MWEB support is active on these forums all the time. I'm sure they'll respond to your issue if necessary.

Hi,

I've sent you a PM :)

@Chris

Go with TRL. their speeds are great and the price is worth it. i have a 4meg line with 30gig unshaped cap. i stream supersport flawlessly on my 17" wide screen. picture is great. best decision i've ever made moving from mweb.

And just how many ISP's would even respond on a Sun? At least Mweb did!

I agree 100%, they made the effort. But the service should also be offering a solutions, not recommend to just change my settings. But anyhow I have cancelled with Mweb, have to be with them until end April. Gonna try squeeze as much out as possible which will most likely be like 9gig on the speeds they offering on 512.

I don't think this has anything to do with which ISP you moved from or too. To be clear, you moved from a shaped uncapped account to a unshaped capped account. Obviously if you value streaming things perfectly any time of the day and only need a set amount of cap then you should get an unshaped capped account. If you need more than eg. 30GB, and you could get 10 times this on uncapped, then you'll need uncapped.

The OP said he does not need uncapped, but an unshaped account. he is more concerned about qaulity instead of quantity

Ye, it's just that TRL and MWeb don't have much to do with it. He could also go with Afrihost for cheap gigs, but it's up to him.

Well my advice would be... dont leave mweb get your line checked out ?

People talk about worse and worse speeds every day but my speeds have only gotten better since day 1 with mweb uncapped 4mbit.

I have no complaints about mweb at all. they always respond within 48 hours of a mail like their website states is the estimated time. on one occasion I did have a speed problem caused by mweb after they put me in the wrong shapping bracket but that was sorted out the same day as I sent the mail, it was only a matter of hours. All other speed issues have been my telkom line which takes them FOREVER to check out. So my forst bet would be Telkom anyday, so find out with them first

What are shaping brackets? How are they allocated per customer?
