So I clicked the cancel button yesterday, got the customer service reps response, answered telling him it is with immediate effect and that was it. Today I see I can still cancel it on the site so it is either still active or their portal isn't smart enough to know to know the account is "cancelled/pending cancellation".

I guess my real question is - have anybody here managed to cancel Rain, is it straight forward or am I in for "fight" like with Telkom?

Sadly from what i have seen, allot worse than telkom, consider cancelling your card you used.

Well they've been helpful so far and I have a courier reference code to come pick up the router. Will see what happens with the debit order.

Cancelling your Credit Card for the debit order is cheaper  Good Luck
Well, its not really a debit order - more like a reoccurring credit card payment, as you cannot sign up with rain using a bank account.

It going to be a long haul - I have not received any feedback from them for over 7 months - so I really wish you luck

I can see the device removed from the portal. Nothing from the courier yet.

So the courier company still hasn't made contact. @rain_mobile am I going to be liable for a "late return" or something? Who's job is it to follow up with them: mine or Rain or do we just leave it and one day soon when I move out of the house I leave the router on the door step?

HI @Hamster apologies for that. I will check why havent they made contact

Yay, collected today \0/

So what was that:
  • Click cancel
  • Device removed from account two days later (with rep assistance)
  • Device collected six days later (with rep assistance)

So about eight days total if you ask @rain_mobile to assist

Keep us posted, as the next question is, how long will they keep billing you and how long will it take to get that sorted out

If they bill me I'll definitely post.

I'm just going to assume even though I only had the account active 7 days of the month (router was off) they will charge me the full month and not do a pro-rata thing. Will see.

So, Rain charged me R160 odd that month, I assume prorata up until the day I cancelled.

So unless I get charged again for some reason, with the help of the Rain rep here it is a fairly smooth process.
