New photographer here, would like some input on choosing a Canon 800D vs a 250D for a first dslr camera. Played around for a while with a sony cybershot dsc model variant that I cant remember, non-interchangeable zoom lens with some limited controls on iso, etc, and a funky night shot mode. So I've read that although the 250D is newer than the 800D, apparently the 800D has better or more advanced features such as more af points, and is not as dumb downed as the 250D. Apparently the 800D was also rumored to be upgraded soon so I dont mind holding off on buying to see if the new 800D is better, or if the old 800D gets clearance discounts enough to justify buying it over a 250D if the feature/performance difference isn't too much.

Mainly looking at shooting scenery while traveling so I thought the 250D would be a good choice, but I also may require capability to shoot moving targets so that brings me to consider the 800D instead. So now I'm undecided between the two, also do any shops have them on display to allow you to hold and get a feel for them.

Actually I did google, was looking for a more local personal experience since a lot of the websites either gave a "it depends, both is good" comparison like apotelyt.com, or the comments section in places like dpreview forum had people suggesting rather go up to a 70D (outside of budget for a starter camera) at least or arguing about why would canon bother with features like wifi/bluetooth photo transfer instead of other things.

If you've never owned a DSLR, any DSLR will do. All modern DSLR in the same range will all have similar features. WiFi and all. All depends on the lenses you get.

You mention scenery, so wide angle will do. So people must just start suggesting some wide angle lenses for you, not which DSLR is better.

The online reviews will be very noncommittal since there are far more similarities between these two cameras than there are differences. There are two factors which may point to the 250D as a good choice:

- It is a bit lighter making it easier to travel with.
- The user interface has a guide mode for people new to photography, speeding up the learning.

In this class of cameras Canon seems to be moving heavily towards mirrorless. The M50 or M200 may be better suited to your needs at that price point.

Buy the form factor where you can get the cheapest lenses. Any entry canon will do as you can throw on some amazing beginner lenses like the 50mm STM or even 10-18mm STM for landscapes.
