can't change folder names over a network on a ubuntu machine

Ok so i eventually got myself a macbook pro 13.3" its absolutely COOOOL!!

What i want to know now is I have a specific drive in my ubuntu box that is shared by samba, i can read to it, write to it, but for some strange reason i can not change the folder names another macbook can but not mine, although i can change the folder names on another drive it just won't allow it on this specific drive.

Any ideas guys?

Check your permissions on the Ubuntu side and get the Mac to join the workgroup or domain the Ubuntu box is on.

i checked the permissions, even logged in as root same story but my brothers macbook works 100%
