Cape Independence!

Because so far its not the Cape ppl..

Its an INCREDIBLY small percentage of the population that are entertaining the idea... and based on skewed logic in my opinion.

Well its out there and its not going anywhere.

And you know this from living down here do you?

Well I live here in CT and I think it's the worst idea I've ever heard.
I LIKE living in South Africa, I like being a part of South Africa.
I actually love many different parts of this beautiful country.
In fact, I vote that instead of creating more borders, we remove borders! Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zim should join us to become a large Southern Africa! So there!:p

This is entertaining isnt it.. What I find so funny is your lack of belief in the Cape's ppl & their desire to secede :)

Rather save the effort and use your resources to help the SPCA or something.

I guarantee you that nearly the entire Western Cape (myself included) will not support the independence of the Western Cape. It will create more problems and create racial and political tensions. We don't need more problems in this country... we have enough as it is.

Good for you. Kumbaja. After that all countries can join and form one. Then the planets so we have a united states of the solar system.

"A nation, therefore, has no right to say to a province: You belong to me, I want to take you. A province consists of its inhabitants. If anybody has a right to be heard in this case it is these inhabitants." - Ludwig Von Mises.

who on earth is this Ludwig bloke ?

btw. lots of "provinces" have tried this move throughout history. Texas and few others from across the Atlantic is one that comes to mind. That didnt work out too well for them.

Currently Scotland also fancies their chances, except they want independance as well as a few billion from England every month, because they cant actually afford to be economically independant. How would the Cape province finance itself ? Let me guess Tourism. You will be as successfull some Caribean islands.

I take my perception of the percentage of people who would WILLINGLY vote for Independence from the percentage of people who actually voted for the party in the recent elections, since its the only concrete number that exists.

Even though ppl here have already told you that the Party is brand new, had limited funding initially and only used this election to "get out there" and launch itself?

Athol Trollip of the DA's opening speech in Parliament...

"It is a source of great concern for the DA to be called
secessionist by none other than the former Deputy President, Baleka Mbete. It is
also unacceptable that the Chief Whip of the ANC in the NCOP can say the
following about the Premier of the Western Cape, "I want to say Chair and of
course Hon. Chief Justice, that I am not a racist. If she wants to lead her
race, she has the right to do so. She has won the race to lead, but not the
people of my province. This is my home, and she has to be very serious when she
leads the people of this province". My question is, who are "our" people and who
says we are not serious? This was said without rebuke from the Chair of the
NCOP, the ANC or the media. No-one in the DA here or elsewhere has ever uttered
such racist drivel about the ANC electoral victory or indeed your appointment
Sir.

Neither have we called people witches or lesbians with the
designed intent to malign and foster homophobic or genocidal emotions. We have
not called any elected representatives an enemy of the state nor threatened to
make anywhere ungovernable. This kind of rhetoric has no place in our society,
less so in our Parliament. I hope that this debate will not set the tone for
this term of office, so that we can concentrate on the seminal issues that
challenge our nation's prosperity.

Incidentally, the DA will be a
Government for all the people of the Western Cape."

Cape-Independence : What exactly does that supposed exerpt from Atholl Trollips opening speech have to do with anything, except show that your percentage of supporters is still small.

As for you saying its a new party... you're going to need to make your mind up, You say this BS idea of the WC being an independent state has been out there for ages.. so surely they could have expected more than 2500 votes from a population of 4.8m...

Toxic: YOU said the DA wouldnt support secession. I posted that to show you you were right, and that no one EVER said the DA would support Independence.

Alot of attitude and BS coming from ur side Toxic - Get over yourself

Ummm, either you or CapeNat posted that you think Helen Zille will provide the referendum for independence soon, which is an implication that the DA supports this nonsese of WC independence.

I have nothing to do with this retarded secession idea but I do entertain the debate and humour.

Capetownguy : Sorry.. that posted was NOT directed at you.. it was for Cape-Independence or CapeNat (who I'm guessing are the same person actually)
