Am I the only one that had ZERO internet on Saturday all day (May 9)? And today I can't get online for more that a minute at a time. Not to mention my speeds..

This is INSANE!

No you not its been down since yesterday for me too. Dunno what up seems to be a weekend thing.

PTA FTW!
:D

We had spikes of downtime last week. (Mostly from vodacom)
Should be interesting to find out what's cooking behind the scenes.

1st May was down for a couple of hours (connect for 1 minute then disconnect). Had some line drops on Saturday morning but that seemed to be for 15 minutes. Use the downtime to make a mean egg 'n bacon breakfast and then all was well.

Was down from saturday morning 02:00 roundbouts till about 16h00.
Sunday down from 02:00 till about 11:00 ish.

Kept on getting an error 718. The remote computer did not respond in a timely fashion. Though gotta say when it came back on damn was it nice dl'ing again :P

Well no internet for me from around 1:00 am Saturday until now. My reception dropped from the usual "perfect" 4 bars to 1 bar. Phoned Neotel 3 times to hear what is being done but got no explanation except for the usual "everybody in Cape Town is experiencing problems". I'm in Bellville near Tygervalley Centre so for reception to be that bad it must be affecting alot of people.

Progress?

So finally I'm able to connect to the internet -- for longer than 2 minutes...

...And this is almost 3 DAYS since this problem surfaced and there is no known time-frame for a resolution according to the support guys at neotel.

As as I'm typing this I just got disconnected again - so we've gone from 1-2 minute bursts of working internet to 5 minute intervals...how promising.

And Speeds?

Oh, and I'm on the 10G Prime package. This is customer abuse, plain and simple.

I still cant connect to the internet either. Three days of downtime and counting.

I am still down since Saturday, getting error 718 error from Neoconnect software even though I have 4 bars of reception according to the device.
Technical is a bit useless as I called back twice and was given two different stories.

Had drops last night after 9pm (was watching TV from 8-9 so could have been anytime). After 20 minutes decided to sod that and went to bed. 3rd time this month, its getting nearly as bad as when I still had Telkom.

HI all,

I would like you to provide with the following information please:

Your name, Neotel service number and address where service is being used. I need this info to report your issues to the network team.

I would also prefer if you log a trouble ticket and provide me with the reference numbers allocated to you.

You should have my details. It is still the same issue as before it is just more people experiencing it now and the disconnects are more frequent.

Easier said than done when I can't get on the internet for longer than 1-5 minutes at a time, once every 4 hours or so...

I found out today that Pinelands has Neotel.
My flat is surrounded by their coverage.

After seeing this and other threads, methinks I ain't gonna bother with them.

My connection is up and running again. Reception levels back to normal.

It's now 4 solid days of no internet for longer than 2-5 minutes at a time from Neotel. (And I have my connection set to keep trying every 1 second and it still takes forever to get a moment of connection)

I use this connection to conduct all of my business (which is entirely internet based) meaning that this problem has and will cost me business for weeks to come.

It's taken me since 8am until now (10:19am) to get online for long enough to post this message.

And on my prime package where I was getting around 900 - 1100 kbps download before - when I do finally get a moments connection - these are still my current speeds...

I am now forced to take this issue to the media and that's regrettable.

EDIT - I was actually unable to make this post because Neotel just cut out again so I'm making it through GPRS using my cellphone.

It's now FIVE days and counting...and it's still impossible to keep a connection longer than a few minutes. And the speeds are worse than ever...
