How convenient that we live in SA, currently one of the poorest examples of "democracy" and civilised-enough people wondering in the streets. By all means, let's base our theories on that, just when it suits us nog al.

---------->

poorest examples of "democracy"?

Really brian, again with stretching the truth to suit your narrative.

You're really living in a strange "reality" TB, smoking socks again or something? But I suppose if you are a Pinko after all, could make some sense...

There are significantly more examples of countries with significantly worse democracy records than us...

I'd put us largely in the "middle" of the road and nowhere near being one of the poorest examples.

**EDIT**
And even I'd be wrong, we rank 43rd out of 167 countries, so in roughly the top quarter actually.

Guess it depends on your angle, we certainly don't have respect for law, and that on both sides of the fence, nor for the pretend free market we have, nor for the non-racist stance we supposedly have, etc., etc., etc., etc., ...........

But what you have suggested is that our world is falling apart, which some of you basically disagreed with a few days ago. Viva!

Bah..

The Economist democratic index rates SA as a flawed democracy (along with the US)

 • Flawed democracies are countries where elections are fair and free and basic civil liberties are honoured, but may have issues (e.g. media freedom infringement and minor suppression of political opposition and critics). These countries can have significant faults in other democratic aspects, including an underdeveloped political culture, low levels of participation in politics, and issues in the functioning of governance.[6]
Note that a number of western European countries are rated as flawed too..

We disagreed that our world is falling apart? I'm intrigued to know where that blanket statement was made.

Has @Splinter been been thread-banned???

He's being unusually un-harrassing, over the last few days.

Occasionally, the hall-monitors get it right, I guess.

So when you get posts deleted for insulting people it's unfair, but when someone gets thread banned because you don't like them, all good?

Hypocrisy, thy name is Lexity.

Thread's poll has an additional 4 voters.

Current tallies suggest the majority still favor outright Cape independence.

(none of the questions mention / are about a referendum, would would be the easier YES vote).

That means that mybb forumites, from all over SA, actually support CI more strongly than the official 2025 polling figures, which are specific to WC voters.

Good lordie.

Poll architects, have I got that right?

@Brian_G, @Grant

He got thread-banned because '\[I\] don't like him'???

Really?

How d'you know that? Inside information?

Since when have the hall-monitors reserved anything but utter contempt for me? Why would they listen to me, even if I had reported him?

:unsure:

Which of the words: pinko, hen-pecker, commie, or knuckle-dragger, do you find insulting, and why?

Perhaps you should go into your neighbourhood bar and say all of the above to the clientele and see if you survive long enough to come back and tell us why they consider those names insulting. Off you go...chop chop.

You're going to leave it to Grant again, to try to dig you out of your chicken-💩 non-replies, aren't you?

No, I'm waiting for you to answer a question lexy, and not even a difficult complicated one.

Why, so you can be spared the scrutiny of your ideas?
