Car around 80k

How about the OP takes the suggestions and goes and test drives them? They've asked for suggestions and a lot of really good ones have been given.

Based on what? Dealer pricing?

Your Honda isn’t exactly cheap to maintain either then.

Just saying parts and service if something break isn't going to be expensive to replace it. Luckily I haven't arrived at that stage to replace, anything on my Honda brio.

If I may ask what car brand is cheap to maintain and parts are easy to fine.

Stay away from Renault the is a thread here on mybb, someone was complaining that he/she has to pay R16000 to replace cambelt. If I remember correctly the car is going for 90000km service so please stay away from Renault.

Another car that comes to my mind underrated, nissian Micra just like Honda brio it's ugly but reliable little car.

Honda Brio fuel usage fuel tank (35 litre) give me close to 600km. I am happy with the car I have 2014 model, I want to get 2016 facelift. Service at the dealer R2500 including labour, material cost less than R1000 plus labour hourly rate of R730. So I'm sure at independent workshop it will be cheap.
One person's experience enough to sway opinion?
Sandero hell likely pick up with very low mileage, so cambelt service not an issue.

That was my point.

Cars aren't ever cheap to maintain or find parts for.

Some less or more so than others but at the end of the day it's not a cheap thing to keep.

I'll put money on that Honda Jazz costing more to maintain than the Mini from purely parts perspective and the labour depends entirely where you go.

Always hear that Citigolfs are cheap to maintain because parts are cheap....but why do you require parts all the time? Because something is always broken.

One thing that will be pricier on the Mini is tyres because it's a bit more sporty and running wider rubber.

But like I said it wasn't the sensible choice, but a great option for a student.

You made a good point there.

I'm going to be honest I don't trust these garages with funny names.
I'm with you on that, you also find the exact the same car advertised by 2 other fake dealerships with funny names

Boet, you need a lekker big V6 and lots of trunk space to haul around plenty of junk in the trunk.
