car modification and pimping

Hope you have deep deep pockets. Going to be burning money.

And as other have said, don't do it. At the state of the roads and other idiot drivers around you won't be alive long enough to update this thread in a few months.

OP, you only live once. Sensible advice is fine, but having a car that reacts accordingly when you put your foot down is also fine.

Get the GTI, drive it for a few years and get it out of your system, then get something else. It’s clear you have an itch and you have to deal with it.

Get a 2013+ BMW 135i.

Best choice is to not do any of this. Get a nice sensible car for now.

A project car shouldn’t be your only car.
Eish. That’ll be a serious money pit at the price points I assume OP is looking it.

Maybe rather go on an advanced driving course first. Driving a C63s on track made me realise how much you don't need a fast car on the road as you can never use it. I drive a lot slower on the road after doing the course, especially seeing the braking distance on a high performance car and what serious aquaplaning feels like.

But short answer GTi. The 520d is a bit heavy for the 2 litre engine. A 530d should be quite quick. Diesels have relentless torque

Turn that 180 degrees and then everyone knows that you're really a BMW owner

You've gotten the sensible advice here.

Having said that; get the Golf 6 GTI. Plenty of mods for them - can do a Revo stage 2, with DP and exhaust and be happy. More than enough power.

Or you can do what I did; (As @Sinbad says) just buy a fast car to start with. I bought an S4 and that car is quicker than my modified (Stage 2) Leon Cupra I had. And it's stock.

The insurance will be high but probably not as high as if insuring some car built up for burning rubber. Insurance see it differently

Fun fact; most people don't tell their insurer the car is modified. I never did with my Cupra; and had a claim paid out on it.

People normally just "hide" the mods.

But yes, a fast car + young driver == high insurance.

Since the threads seems more performance but is light on the pimping, let me help you out:

Real pimped cars have screens in the wheel mudflaps and in the head rests.

Dont forget the wheels, it has to be spinners, nothing else.

You need shaggy interior to mimic the fur real pimps wear.

For interior smells: try to get fish flavour interior car scent for that real pimp smell.

You forgot about the attire. He has to wear lots of gold chains like Mr. T.
And he has to make sure the car can bounce

Personally drove the 135i coupe and kept up with a balding guy in his Audi R8 convertible. Think a 125i might be the sweet spot, it's similar in performance to the GTI and just as much as a money pit (if not more).
