Personally drove the 135i coupe and kept up with a balding guy in his Audi R8 convertible. Think a 125i might be the sweet spot, it's similar in performance to the GTI and just as much as a money pit (if not more).

The 125i (I assume you’re not referring to the F20) is a bit pap. Not particularly quick but it’s still thirsty. It’s one of those engine configurations that don’t make much sense to me.

I should've clarified that I was referring to the F20 125i. I've driven the 125i coupe and you're correct it is a bit pap. I've owned the F20 125i (written off unfortunately), which is much faster than than the naturally aspirated coupe.

Ah okay. Then yes, the F20 125i is a GTI beater. Very nice car.
