Car purchase...

Buying a conquest that cant start-Thanks for the gear box advice

Shot for the advice there! Was helpfull.

I found that the actual problem was the linkage that was broken. The end of the link: the plastic cusp broke, which caused the linkage not to be able to hook and hence not get the lower gears.

Im looking at buying a toyota conquest. To re sell it though:

-The car doesnt start, the guy says its an immobilizer problem. What could these problems be and what would it cost?

-How can I try and find out what the problem could be before I buy it, by simply checking it out in his yard?

Well done Stokkies! Decent advice once again!! :D

Forget the Tazz/Conquest...if it's not starting, it's probably expensive enough to forget buying it...

WTF is a plastic cusp? Is that like part of the gear selector linkage? If it is then it's simple to fix.

My friend also has conquest and his doesn't start either, but only sometimes. It'll work 100% then the car gets hot and it no longer starts, there is fuel, there is spark but for some reason it won't start. Leaving it for like 20 minutes cures the problem, really weird.

But yeah check immobilizer, check for fuel, check for spark. If both are there then the car *should* start, if not welcome to my friends life :p
