Car remote jamming insurance warning

Car remote jamming insurance warning

Car owners who use remote control keys to lock their cars should take extra care, because if a criminal uses remote jamming, an insurance company may not pay out a claim.

moral of the story; if you lost some big ticket items due to this, break the window yourself afterwards and claim it was forced entry

although yes, in this day and age and country vigilance is not something we can neglect at all.

Then you suffer the fate of having such a car.
Seriously, who would buy such a car in South Africa?
You only have yourself to blame.
You knew the risks.

And this is not victim blaming, this is just common sense.

That certainly looks like victim blaming to me.

Cars with keyless entry are a little harder to jam. You can't simply jam them with a gate remote you'd need specialised equipment which will likely jam other radio equipment in the immediate radius.

Apparently alarm maker Sanji is selling a product that can be fitted to your car that acts a sniffer of remote jamming signals. When you activate your car's alarm and there is someone with a jammer in the immediate area it will sound 4 beeps to make u aware of the fact. Thinking of having one installed as it's only about R599.

This, insurance will always find a way to not pay out, screw them back.
This is not good advice at all. If you have a legitimate claim you shouldn't resort too questionable tactics. :(

Good to know, thank you. :)
Best defence is not to leave valuables in your car though.

You know this how?

I know you cannot jam the current BMW with a gate remote.
Maybe not but there is a long list of cars that can be jammed. I was surprised to see some of the brands of car makers that is affected by this problem. Very fancy and expensive cars as well.

Please post a link for the list? :)

Thank you. I remember reading the post. Luckily my car isn't listed. :)

My gate remote easily jams a Toyota Fortuner and other expensive cars. People always think you need some sophisticated device.
