Has anyone got there car wrapped ? or know anything about it.

Looking at getting mine wrapped, mainly to protect the paint, and it would also be nice for a change in scenery i suppose.

Not sure on the best method and all that though, i have seen some of these "liquid wraps" for R6k but then online they say it started peeling after 3 months. I want to try atleast get a few years out of it, then be able to take it off.

Sweet

There are a lot companies that do full vinyl wraps. Going to set you back a couple of K if you use decent vinyl. Bee warned though, if you go for a matte finish, anything remotely fatty or oily will stain it, even sweat from your hands.

I was looking at going matte, but not matte black, like a matte orange or red! But that kindy sucks!

I got quoted 8.2k to do my car, in vinyl, is that in the ball park ?

Just keep in mind that a decent wrap actually sticks like crazy. If you ever decide to remove the wrap one day it can then peel your paint work where there were any minor defects in the paint work like chips or scratches

Bloody expensive way of protecting your paintwork, and who knows what will happen once you don't like it any more. :wtf:

Very, very, very Kitsch.

You get a clear wrap.

I think VPS is probably your best best for protection - but #$%#$%$%^^%$ over priced

I have VPS but only on the bonnet and bumper to protect against stone chips. It does work but I prefer plain paint that I can wax/polish. Bought it with the VPS fitted.

VPS is dumb. Yes, it "saves" your paintwork, but if it gets damaged in a minor accident then you have to replace it and it costs thousands. Rather just pay your insurance excess and get the paint fixed. Also, it looks crap when damaged so you end up with a car full of scratched film on the bumpers.

It might only make sense for bonnets to protect from stone chips.

I also think zeff and kitsch - but I actually saw a wrapped X6 that looked fantastic.

It was like a matt grey colour

I wrapped my mirrors and spoiler. Came out very nice. Guy had a full wrapped car there and I didn't even know it was wrapped until he mentioned it. I had to peel off one section due to accident, and it didn't affect the paint at all. Been 2 years now and no problems.

Seems an awful lot of money for some plastic?

Vs a change of colour respray? And its not just the plastic. You can buy it for -+ R150 p/sqm. Its the skill and the time to stick that stuff down smooth and clear

Unless you're driving a banger dont worry about it pulling the paint off when you remove it. R8k seems like the going rate for a single colour wrap as long as you're getting cast vinyl.
I would stay away from the matt finish tho. It looks awesome for the first little bit and then starts to shine where you touch it alot. Then it looks really crap.

It will protect your car but, like I said, if you're driving a banger or have had any backyard panelbeating done, you may lose some paint. Otherwise I'd say go for it.

Only an inferior product will do that... not a "decent" wrap.

I wanted to do a camo wrap but my SO said NO. :p

There are people who wrap their vehicles to protect the paint work and then sell them after a few years at a great loss anyway?
Am I the only one who thinks this is a daft idea?
