What card gives you 1 point for every R10 spent?
Next time I hear "Have you got a Clicks Clubcard" I'm going to punch someone
What you get on Gold you get on Platinum
Lol i know that feeling all too well! God it's annoying. As if im going to be saving hundreds of rands every month by shopping @ Clicks and swiping that blady card.
Well - yeah - it's a gimmick. Now ABSA has canned the rewards program - I can still claim a vacuum cleaner. That was on LeisureLink/ABSALuteWinners not
ABSA Gold and definitely not ABSA Platinum. And it sucks because I made some purchases at Best Denki and Takashimaya on my CC and points won't rack up.
May go for FNB's Ebucks - for a while, I hardly use my backup FNB card.
It's getting difficult to decide which products to purchase on which card. I have a Go Banking card, FNB credit, Discovery credit, ABSA credit and possibly a Vodacom credit soon.
But here's the thing : each has their own promotions :
Go Banking : specials for quite a number of items bought at Pick 'n Pay, including non consumables such as fridges, stoves etc
Discovery Credit : Nando's, Pick 'n Pay, Look&Listen, Reggies, Exclusive Books etc and 5-20%
FNB Credit : 10% ebucks on all spend, plus certain partner stores such as Makro, Look&Listen, AVIS, Loads Of Living give additional etc
For example, my Xbox was bought for R4000 and I got R40 worth of ebucks, but had I used Discovery I'd have got R400 cash back. ARRRGH
ABSA Credit : 10-20% off at certain jewellery stores, vineyards, restaurants, hotels, higher end furniture shops etc Also partners and specials abroad.
Vodacom Credit : 10% Yebo bucks at Dions/Game and 2% at other retailers. Also, 20% cash back at Galaxy & Co, and 10% back at Dial a bed, Furniture City etc
I now have to plan what I'm spending where and how much each will benefit me *sigh*
ABSA started a new rewards program - but I'm a bit annoyed they didn't even notify me that they canned the old one - I only found out by chance.....
ABSA started a new rewards program - but I'm a bit annoyed they didn't even notify me that they canned the old one - I only found out by chance, but the only real rewards program is eBucks - it paid for my Playstation 3
Account status isn't just a gimmick though - You get access to account specific benefits, I don't think my home loan would have been completed within 24 hours if I had an entry level account - I also don't think the bank would be delivering things like bank stamped statements, and new cards directly to me - instead of me going into the bank to get them.

Can you tell me more about the GoBanking incentives and discounts?
I find that most of these reward systems in place require you to spend a crap load before you see any kind of reward. Doesn't save you anything really. For example, the money you save when purchasing with a Vodacom cc is chowed up by the higher than average interest, unless you have sufficient positive balance or settle before interest is charged.
The only card I find beneficial is the Wild Card.
My teazers card gives me 2 for the price of 1 on mondays.
