I have been in the IT industry for almost 8 years now, been doing tech support, network support sales.. etc. I have decided to start studying programming and i am busy at Damelin in with a JAVA diploma. I have done my research and I don't really require help with what language bla bla. If I look at the Job specs on Pnet they ask for an array of experience in different languages and job roles. So my question is after getting the Java thing down do I further my studies and certifications at Oracle JE then EE or expand my knowledge in other languages or add ins.

Sorry for the long questions, it is seriously confusing looking at all the different options. Just looking at the Oracle university, there are over 50 different modules to study and even more certifications.

I would complete the JAVA cert and then start working as a junior dev. Then see what technologies the company is currently using, if that interests you, then ask the company for the training. Certs are not cheap. And having a million of them is also not good if you don't actually get to have some experience with said tech.
